Mecedes C111 rotary sports car
Juts happened to notice in the September issue of Hemmings and Sports & Exotic car. That the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Irvine has the Experimental rotary project car C111. Anyone know if this might be at Sevenstock this year?
They are located at Mercedes-Benz Classic Center 949-598-4850 9 Whatney Irvine, CA 92618 http://www.mbusa.com/heritage/classi...-california.do The lobby is open weekdays 8-4pm and is a museum itself, the article said the C111 is sitting in the lobby. |
It will not be at Sevenstock. Sorry!

Maybe make sure the one on display is the rotary powered version.
Mercedes had a few versions of the C111 and they changed engines in the various versions of the C-111 many times. I am not sure what version they have on display. It was a five-cylinder diesel propelled the C111-IID research vehicle to an average speed of 252 km/hr at the test track at Nardo, Italy. The crew set a total of 16 world records in the process. The first versions of the C111 test platform were powered by a wankel engine, which Mercedes engineers ultimately determined to be too inefficient by design. They opted instead for the precision of a turbodiesel. |
