I posted this already in the picture thread, but didn't want to muddy up all the photos with my questions.

Where are the photos of the sledge going through the windshield?

Does anybody know the websites of the pro photographers, particularly the guy that was taking shots out of 7 on the touring lap?

That was an absolute blast! I found out on the touring lap that I was already very near the performance potential of the car, just keeping up with the pace car, and that there wan't much more fun to be had. The PDX put all those fears to rest, as it's a totally different experience to be able to brake and turn (and spin) at your own discretion.

For those that don't want to put the car to its limits with concrete walls looming, I got to drive at 9 tenths for 7 laps for free (though some threw in another $10 donation as well). I remember Ray saying that he's not much of a motorsports guy and that he's not particularly drawn to racing his own car, but the touring lap alone was good for some serious grins.

They won't be able to keep me off the track next year. Thanks so much to Billy, the sponsors, and everyone in attendance for making ZF1 what it was.

It was a real pleasure to meet all of you. You all are real rotorheads and mazdafiends!!! That's what made it great! We definitely look forward to next years event! I'd like to thank those who stopped by our tent too!!

Billy, Crit and Donnie Great way to follow through on this idea and hope to hear from you soon!

Did I mention that the touring was the sh*t!?!?

Yeah, everyone is about to hit the ground in their tents at around 1AM and Chris decides to wake up and socialize until 4AM.

I hear ya! Well being gone all week in AL for classes and getting home late friday night made for a good Saturday to sit and relax and hold my girls (One 5 and one 6 weeks) who missed me. If I was not gone again this week back in classes I would have been there for sure! Two weeks of no kids would have made me go nuts!!!!!

Anyhow, hats off to all those who set it up and those who made the event.
I would love to see this event again next year but maybe we can do it earlier when it is not so feaking hotttttttttttt. Billy look into it ans see if we can line it up. Let start planning now! I can see this being bigger than deals gap, although the gap is fun and a blast, just having a safe place to run the cars and hang out with each other is a big deal. Gap in April and this event in November!
I'm down and will start planning as soon as I hear something!!!!!!!!!!!

We are glad everyone had a great time. Just as we suspected the first year had a few hiccups but nothing that really stood out.

The SCCA has already contacted us to make sure we felt as good as they did about the event. They are exited for next year, as are we.

I have seen a post on another forum stating "Zoom-Fest did not have much going on". Our plan was never to schedule your entire day down to the minute. Rather to introduce you to the joys of motorsports events and have a great Mazda enthusiast gathering at the same time. I feel we pulled it off.

Just a reminder for those that missed it:

Great looking t-shirts!
Some very rare rotary parts at the swap meet! (How many had seen a 18ft enclosed trailer of Mazda rotary history before? What about dual side seal rotors - Or a Champion sparks plugs IMSA RS, dual distributor race motor?)
A great turnout of Mazda enthusiest, lots of new faces too!
Track lapping! There are probably 30 more people who can say they have driven Road Atlanta at a relatively quick speed than could before the event!
Car Show and Raffle. Everyone went home with something.
Beating the Crap out of a Astro van! We raised $155 for breast cancer!
Burgers, Hot Dogs and Beer at the cook out! (Sorry Dave )
The original Gone in 60 Seconds movie and play station gaming under the stars on the 6 ft big screen!
Performance Driving Experience! A good bit of the crowd took advantage of the Sunday morning track event. As fast as they felt comfortable driving! Can anyone say "Flat though 12"?

All for a small entry fee!

We want to thank everyone who came out! Thank you to all the Sponsors! Without each of you we could not have pulled it off!

It hurts when I see others say that it was missing something, but I am amazed at the people who came, but didn't come up to the pavilion. They said they stopped by, didn't see that many cars, and left. Well how do you expect the number of cars to increase if you just leave? Lol oh well, regardless of what people on other boards/threads are saying about what ZF was lacking, I felt it was a wonderful way to spend a weekend and worth more than what we paid to attend. Billy you have the right to you any of my photos as you wish to promote next year's event. Anything I can do to help out with next year's event, any graphic or photography work, I'd be happy to be a part of.

You know what's kinda funny Billy? When I was waiting in line for the burgers, I saw the relativly small grill that they were using and thought to myself, hmm how did they manage to cook ALL these burgers and dogs and keep them from overcooking... i just got unlucky on the second burger. No problem. Other than when I hit the brakes coming into 10 A from 110 I managed to get a mouthfull of leftover stomach contents Needless to say my instructor was kinda curious why i jumped on pit lane stopped behind the ambulances and projectiled out the door. Luckily I got my helmetoff in time Hell I got 1 full session and 1 lap of the 2nd. Next time!

As for ZF. It was awsome. It wasn't missing much if anything. Only thing I can think of would be more coverd tents or something to escape the sun. As RA doesn't have much cover other than the woods. But we should be prepared and bring our own. you guys did more than I expected. The trailor of history was indeed a thing to see.

Who is the shitbag talkin that ZF was lacking? You know what,.. If you are on this board and read this... I would LOVE to see you do a better job for 30 dollars a person... Billy, Crit, and Donnie ALL deserve a free engine rebuild or tranny swap as it is for Donnie.

Here's another bit of perspective.

Sevenstock 1 Photos (now grown to the biggest rotary meet in the world)

Another thing to remember, too, is that while those of us here are rotary freaks, the vast majority of Mazda sales and Mazda tracked cars are boingers (thank the Miatas for that) AND the Mazdaspeed 6 is an AWD 276-hp monster. We're not the highest volume, most popular OR fastest of the group.

I only say this because I think of all the Miata / MX-5, Protege, 3, 5 and 6 drivers out there, and ZF could be HUGE if we can cross-pollenate to the boinger crowd.

I then consider that Sevenstock is limited to rotaries, and it's not held at something like Road Atlanta.... Granted the Irvine location is very unique in its own right, but access to Road Atlanta made this really special to me.

I think an important part of that is moving away from a rotary-specific site for all the back-and-forth. If you guys can post comments and recommended events on Mazdameets.com, we can grow the discussion just as we'd grow the event. I've started a feedback thread there that everyone can join in on.

http://www.mazdameets.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=38

Thanks for coming out, and lets start the discussion for next year.

Those who said Zoomfest didn't have it going on obviously weren't there.

Sitting up on Spectator Hill between ZF events watching the races.

Scrambling through the pits trying to catch up with the other 7's for the parade laps.

Oogling the Cosmo.

Bashing the Boinger.

Getting that perfect tan.

More 12As than Miatas.

Trying to find Mike under the Big Tent and those excellent burgers, beans and cold slaw.

The Old Guys were starting to get hooked on the track, both watching and driving.

We'll be back.

Thanks B, C and D!

Now that is funny.. I was thinking of A-hole, when I typed that.

Maybe I should have given you the ice hug, instead of Steve.

Icehugs are great on a hot summer's day.

mmm.... maybe I should explain what an icehug is. That sounds pretty bad or good, however might think of it.

Anyway, an Ice Hug is when you have a 20# bag of ice between two people while hugging.
