The Transformation has begun! Bwa ha ha!
The Transformation: Friday & Saturday
I'm trying to get all this done before Deal's Gap. Wish me luck! For those of you that don't know what my plans are -
My Goals before Deal's Gap
Friday:
That evening, my buddy Minda (rotarycrazy on this site) went with me to my house to pick up the RX-7 and the wide-body-kit and suspension. I had to drive my Dad's F150 pickup to take the parts to his place. We live about 60 miles apart. His place is more suitable for us to do this work at since he has a "car-port" and I don't. He drove the RX-7 down. When we got to my place, the RX-7 would not start. The battery was dead. So we jumped it and went on our way. We stopped to get gas, and well, the battery was still dead. So we had to jump it again in the crowded gas station.

Saturday:
We ran errands, and got the rest of the various parts we needed. Got the car up on jackstands and started to work. First we evaluated exactly how bad the rust is. As you can see in the pics, it is quite extensive. Yeah, this is gonna be fun. Then we started pulling the rear suspension out and dropped the axle. That's about as far as we got. Will continue this week and update as available. Now for some pics.
Just so you get a good idea of what I'm about to jump headfirst into, here are pics of the rust that has to be fixed on BOTH the rear fenders/fender-wells.

A pic of Minda. No, he didn't "have a little Captain in him". lol

My old, ratty, nast, yucky, sucky, dirty, tasteless wheels.

Minda's cat is inspecting, ummm, the cat

We couldn't push or pry the old rubber bushings out, so we decided to burn them out. Yeah, that was fun, and it smelled great too!

That's all for now folks!

The Transformation:
Minda here. updating for Adam.
Monday:
Basically just did more rust analysis. Discovered more rust and started removing the affected areas.

Tuesday:
Turbo kit came in!!!! WOOOOO HOOOO!! YEEE haw!!! ahem. anyway. this was Zac's (fb II on this site) turbo kit. Here are some pics of Adam with turbo and intercooler.

Wednesday:
Great weather and some tunes from Rammstein make me work work work. Took apart the front end and as you can see in the pics, there is almost no rust up front! The rust that was on the old fenders was apparently just surface rust. But it doesn't matter since the widebody fenders will replace them.

Well that's all for now. We'll keep you updated as often as possible!

Ok time for another update. Not much happening today, just finished up cutting the rust off the body. While I was cutting rust away in the rear fender well, I found a mouse nest! lol. Those little buggers crawled up inside there and built a nest! ha ha.

Good picture of where the mouse nest was.

Now for just some various pics of the rust that has been cut away.

Thats it for now. We'll be going out to the RX-7 meet in columbia SC here a couple of hours.

Just removed everything possible on the driver's side of the Engine bay, cleaned it, and prepped engine bay for paint. We started painting, but it was apparently too cold, so it kept "running".

See my for sale thread, and see if I have anything you need! Thanks, we'll update as soon as we can!

And this is why I do all the majority of the work since Adam overhere cant tell apart the driver side versus the passenger side so you can imagine when it comes down to something smaller.
Mindaugas
P.S. we hoppefully will make some progress tomorrow if I will feel better since I have bin sick for the past 3 days damn the flue or what ever it is that is cousing me to be miserable.

Sorry about the lack of updates and pictures. After Minda finally got over the flue like a week later, he gave it to me, then I had to take some time off for graduation, then the clutch on my other car went out and I had to pay for that instead of buying some of the stuff I need for my RX-7, then I got a girlfriend. Now I'm back. We worked on it a little over Easter weekend. I'll post up some of those pics as soon as I get a chance.

Again, I apologize about the lack of updatedness this thread has been suffering from. We have been working on the car, but mostly on some of the small stuff and the rust. Obviously, I didn't meet my goal of making Deal's Gap, but cest la vie. Oh well, maybe next year.
Well, the rust is rapidly disappearing! No more holes in the car! woot!

Burning out more bushings! FUN!

Take it easy, everybody!
Until next time,

We are trying to get a hold of Ernst to see when we can go up there to pick it up. Since Adam got some money together if nothing bad happens nock on wood it might fire up in about 2-3 weeks. Yay finally it will be on its own power with nothing more that a 3" downpipe and then the body fitment and all will begin.
