street race incident in Birmingham?

So whats up on this? I here a guy from Huntsville wrecked and killed a another guy whom was filming the street racing at some industrial park in B-ham.... Then another guy was shot over the prize money! Saw a video on you tube ... Crazy shit.... Someone mentioned the guys from FL (other car) had pulled a gun on the Huntsville guy because he was going to back out of the race? Anyone have any info on all this?

These guys are sooo screwed!

There was some "discussion" about it in the lounge. I don't know if they or anyone else ever really figured out all the details.

I heard about this..

Mike, What I heard from someone was that the person was going to call 911 and they shot the guy.. But who knows what really happened..

I went to one of these street racing thing when I first moved down here back in 2002.. Back then it was shady and I never went back out..

They have arrested the guy from Florida and are still looking for the other guy, the guy that was shot and killed because he didnt want to give up the purse($20,000). The guy that was killed by the car was thrown 300ft. My cousin and I went by there the day after and you can see the marks in the road where the guy never lifted off the throttle even after he lost control. It was really a stupid thing for them to do as it was cold and wet and they were running on street tires.

I've only been once or maybe twice - but that looks like that road near where we had that cookout a few years back when looking from the starting line toward the crash.

No it was in Pratt City a suburb of Birmingham

I guess I was wrong about the story I heard.. The purse of $20K makes more sense:)

By the way, the other thread .. dang, bunch of idiots!

I didn't think it was, just I guess that many roads in industrial parks look similar. How long ago was that first cookout that BNR had with our Altanta group making the trek? 2000 2001?

Tim, I think that was 2003.. I think I moved here on Sept 2002.
