Any of you going to N. Chas meet this Saturday?

gxl90rx7 10-20-06 07:35 AM

i wont, ill be in cola

Noxlupus 10-20-06 12:47 PM

Well as much as I'm wanting to make this, it's not looking good - I still have boosting problems (over boosting) and I don't know if the mods that I'm haivng put on this this coming weekend will fix the issue.
Not to mention now I have to look at this knocking problem... Hey Minda, how's your PFC skillz? :P

rotarycrazy 10-20-06 01:26 PM

is it knoking or is it like a pingign sound very distinctive becouse if that is so than oyu are detonating witch is a very bad thing. as for the PFC if you can get a cable for it and the software I would let you have my map witch is for a similar setup as your and as for now quit driving it before you blow your motor.

gxl90rx7 10-20-06 05:20 PM

ive heard pinging before, right after i bought my TII. prev owner had it set up for 14psi with only a safc for fuel control. I had it at about 12 psi around 5krpm, sounded like a little hammer tinging away on my turbo. but i havent heard it since, and its still runs fine today. three cheers for RA seals :)

Noxlupus 10-20-06 07:31 PM

No, it's not an audible knocking, it's just showing up on the PFC.

Anyone in the area happen to have said software and cable?

2SLO2GO 10-20-06 09:56 PM

Prob the fellas at Showzone. Sorry not tryin to plug, just to help.

speedracer2235 10-21-06 07:57 AM

NOXUPLUS give a little more info on your boost issue Or im me. Also what is your set up?

Noxlupus 10-21-06 09:29 AM

My current setup consists of all stock with the exception of DP, MP, with stock muffler. I also have a PowerFC installed. On Monday, I had a compression test done on the car, as well as the boost. This was done with the stock ECU. Resulting with a boost of 13.5 PSI and compression of:

9.2 8.7
9.0 8.5
9.0 8.3

It's been suggested that I have a boost creep, and that I should put a high flow cat.

Next weekend, i'm scheduled to have a Custom intake, J-Spec Y Pipes installed as well as (if they get here in time) Greddy's Titanium Exhaust.

The Greddy's cat back would open up the exhaust even more I'm sure. But that's where I am.

In addition, the Power FC is showing a knocking level of (peek) 27. That’s my other problem (I think). Currently the PFC is running base map, I haven't tweaked it in anyway since I have no idea what I'm doing yet.

Thanks!

Edit: Original thread detailing this can be found HERE.

2Slow2Go, who's showzone?

dregg100 10-23-06 08:04 PM

alright so the Tii has been retuned to 9PSI and my stock injectors are at 82% duty cycle. SWEET!! then hopefully at the next upstate meet (dec) ill have the big turbo on there!

also adam(skylance) has some news, but ill let him tell.

you guys do anything cool this weekend?

rotarybeat1287 10-23-06 10:24 PM

masin,
i got your message but was like in a coma when i heard it. i was sleeping before i had to go into work. yesterday was crazy. i ran in the mountains all day. i drove soo many new roads in the FC. it was handling great and running perfect. well on my way home i decided to run hwy 178. i just happened to look down to look at the guages and that split second i heard a pop. coolant blew all over the windshield and steam and smoke was going everywhere. i slammed on the brakes and pulled off the road onto someones gravel driveway... i destroyed their driveway. haha. but anywho, the car was overheating when i cut it off. i popped the hood and released all the pressure from the radiator before anything else happened. i looked under the car and in the engine bay. it blew the heater hose to fuck. so i let it cool for about an hour cleaning coolant off of my windsheild, roof, etc. and poked around. the car turns over b/c i pulled it onto the flatbed. i didnt keep it on long just enough to pull it on the truck. its at the shop now and i went and looked at it today. they ordered the new parts for it and they will be there in the morning at 9am. itll be fixed by lunchtime with the parts and a coolant flush and refilled fluids. i have had a pretty crazy weekend. i lost my video ipod as well. i think ill just stay inside from now on. haha. later man.

thats awseome man, that engine must really move some air, to be almost maxing out at 9psi! at 9psi my d/c is about 37% but htat is with 720 secondaries and stock ports. at least that is what the rtek says, maybe im supposed to multiply htat by 2 or something..

dregg100 10-24-06 02:21 PM

it should give you D/C for primaries and secondaries separetly. My car has a very aggressive port, and is running decently rich.

Alan,
be careful with that car man, when you overheat it like that they will usually still start when cold if the housings are warped. make sure its not devouring coolant. even if they replace the hose(s) that blew your coolant seals may very well be fried. it doesnt sound like it got hot enough to warp the housings (that takes alot of overheating (i know from experiance!!)) but you coolant seals might be completely gone. just be careful and im glad ur ok.

rotarybeat1287 10-24-06 02:52 PM

it only spiked out once. i was scared shitless. i only started it to pull it onto the flatbed. then i shut it off. i went to look at it today. they are finished with it and it starts and runs fine. it doesnt overheat sitting while idleing for 15 minutes. i will take it easy from now on. and i will keep a real good eye on the level of coolant every other day. but i love the car and hated that happened. hopefully everything'll be alright. thanks guys. later.

That same heater line has bit me before also. It's also never in stock at the dealer. Good luck hope the car is OK

Showzone is off of Ladson Rd in the Ladson / Summerville area. They have been there for a while that's about all I know about them. They should have the cable you need though.

BTW Do you guys on this thread only meet up once a month at these meets? The Saturday thing was FULL of ricers so I just drove by. I'm not a fan of Honda

dregg100 10-24-06 07:43 PM

officially once a month, but everyone has there own little side meets throughout the month.

thats why they call it teh ricer meet, you go to make fun of the ricers :)

about showzone, they blew up a few engines trying to tune them a while back, so they have a bad reputation around here. but i guess they cant do too much damage if you just need a cable from them

rotarybeat1287 10-24-06 09:41 PM

hey guys,
i went and picked up the FC tonight after work. when i started it had trouble and i noticed the cold start didnt kick in. i reved it up a lil to help out. it idled good and got up to temp. i let it sit there running for about 10 minutes before i left. i drove it and it was running like shit. lol. i guess b/c of the cold weather. after it got warmed up it started running like itself again. i noticed its running a little under halfway. i pulled over and let it idle some more. it didnt overheat. i was happy to have the car back. the check engine light is always on and wont go off while im driving. im going to go up to the dealership tomorrow and see if they can pull what its saying if anything or just reset it from the work they did. i have no idea but yeah. i noticed three drips from the area they worked on. im going to have them look at the work the mechanic did and give it a once over. im babying the car right now but im happy to have it back. yay! lol.

I'm not telling! You'll just have to come to the meet to find out! :D :naughty: :D

lol, NO, the SA isn't done yet . . . I WISH! (and so do my roomies probably) lol. I am still on a never-ending wait for my new msd box to come in (cuz the old one blew up) so i can finish tuning it. Then it will be off to paint and body! yay!

darthrotary 10-25-06 07:18 AM

Man, dunno if i can make it. had 2 bolts in my steering linkage shear off and lost control of the steering. was going about 25-30 in a neighborhood and ran into a brick wall sign! was just lucky that shit didnt happen on the interstate! so, im scared to death to drive it right now until i can pull the rest of the bolts and inspect.
i encourage all 1st gen owners to do the same, was a "help me Tom Cruise!" moment.
so, pulled the fender off and banged it out, you can tell i hit something but it looks better than it did.

dregg100 10-25-06 01:57 PM

as long as ur ok^^ then worry about the car.

dude allen, stop taking ur car to the dealership, they are a rip and usually dont fix it(the dripping) what all was replaced and how much did they charge? you might want to do a compression test.
