Quad: Why part it out? Why not sell it whole? If I was closer, I would fix it for you. It is probably something simple.
1. it is not the air intake sensor (dynamic chamber). Mine is not connected and has been that way for thousands of miles. It is really only to help with hot starts anyway.
2. for the AFM, they are super easy to test. Just pull the AFM and measure resistance between certain terminals with the door open and the door closed. Specs are in the FSM. Also, the door may be hanging up on something if that hasn't been checked. It only takes like 5 minutes to test one.
3. I assume you had them test fuel pressure while it starts. Did the pressure stay up when it died? What was the pressure? Did they jump the fuel pump to keep it running whenever the key is 'ON'?
4. really the most critical sensor for the GSL-SE is the coolant temp sensor in the waterpump. If that sensor is bad or if the connector come unplugged, the car will flood like mad and will be really hard to start. That connector and wiring is usually brittle and you may have cracked the connector or wiring when doing your injector work.

As for what Mazcare has checked, I believe they've checked all of that. Charlie said he got it running with the AFM off, so we just need a good AFM to install in there.

Shoot the Silver One skims right over those puddles now that I've got the new Kumho's on there. I've been driving in the heavy rain on I85 for the last two days making my way into and out of Atlanta, no problems but lots of lesser cars parked on the side of the road.

Well, I got the AFM from Crit, and after doing some pondering, I'm pretty much decided I'm gonna sell the car as a full car. Hopefully running. Here shortly, just about everything will be new in the engine bay, so there shouldn't be anything else that could go wrong.
On another note, has anyone heard from OG Kevin? He was supposed to bring me some parts yesterday, and he never called or showed up, and hasn't answered his phone all day. I'm assuming he's just busy with the move, but you never know, especially with all that rain the other night....

If anyone needs any FC parts, there's a perfect white S5 convertible at Tallant Bro's Junk Yard here in North-west Cumming. I went there to buy a battery for the FB (only $25 w/ warranty) and I spotted it sitting on the side. It's immaculate, I mean perfect. No dents, perfect paint, 'vert wheels, clean interior, clean engine compartment. The bad? It was a cash for clunkers deal- motor tranny and diff are ****, and the title's cancelled so it could never be fixed... I bought the radio surround, vents, shifter surround, and a battery for $45. Not too bad. But they want too much for everything else I was interested in- $200 front bumper, $100 mirrors, $150 hood, $150 trunk lid... Cheap bastards. Anyways, letting everyone know.
And FYI I got a temp tag for the FB today and got it road worthy. I'm going to start delivering in it tomorrow (Wednesday) night. I've got to figure what I'm going to do about the tag for it soon though, only 30 extra days! Any thoughts anyone?

The SE intake is low and upfront by the radiator. Much more likely to suck up water than a 12A car. Speaking of which, I sucked up some water in my SE during a flood in '97. Just pumped the gas to keep her running. Got the water blown out and kept on going. Didn't stall. Lots of other people were stuck on the side of the road (or river 
).

So is the solenoid on the starter (12A) replacable independent of the starter? I'm fairly sure my solenoid is on the way out. Some, well most now, of the times I turn the key, I just get a click from the starter, and it doesn't turn over. Then eventually it will work just fine. It used to be a rare occurance, but it is getting much more common.

Negative. If it's a previously-rebuilt starter, give me a call. You may be able to swap it using my phone number
Solenoid is not replacable You've burned out the contacts on the bendix. I seem to recall a guy on your side of town that had become pretty adept with getting those starters to work using a hammer.
Tim I, you've redone your battery ground right? If that is getting weak it can make the starter act like it's going bad.
Thanks for the Del Horto link Tim II, they sure are pretty. That's one thing I like about carbs, you can see them and they always look pretty. EFI is harder to relate to.

Mike, the easiest way is to look at the specifications for the tire. Tires will typically have a recommended rim size. The other alternative is to call an installer or some place like Tire Rack. It can vary fairly dramatically. I've had 205/50ss on the "+" wheels, which I think are 5.5", and I have 205/50s on my Konigs, which are 7" wheels.
The next step then is to make sure it won't rub. That can be a little trickier.

Everything from late 73 to 85 will interchanger, starter-wise, as long as it's a manual. FC starters will work too, if you care to add a stud or bolt.
