Good guess Paul, but no bingo.

The first word has 7 letters.

The second word also has 7 letters.

As in slamming John McCain is a really s______ thing to do. (hint: 6 letters)

Especially after John McCain, a war hero and a very decent man, is dead.

What kind of coward would do that?

you’d have to ask the 44 men that perished and 144 badly injured on the Oriskany the same question.. their opinions of McCain greatly vary from yours. Unfortunately we can’t ask 44 of them.

You mean John McCain caused the Oriskany fire? Who told you that? Rush Limpbrain or Sean Hanshity?

The Oriskany lost half of it's assigned planes and had 20 pilots killed and another 9 taken prisoner during the Viet Nam War.

One of the downed pilots was John McCain. He spent 5 years in a Vietnamese prison camp.

He was tortured Paul, think about that.

While Donald Trump was busy with his racist money mongering in New York.

I repeat, Donald Trump is a F______ A______.

I’m trying Tim, very hard. No Ray neither of those sources. several of the men that served Voiced their stories and some went to their graves holding firm to their experiences before and after McCain served. Yes he was tortured and yes they broke him hard. Others suffered the same. Many broke and many did not. Head of Vietnam actions at that time (westmoreland) wanted McCain court Marshalled following the events on the Oriskany... but Admiral of the navy was John McCains father.. so that was not going to happen. The common thread in the “stories” these men told was Mc Caine’s perpencity for “cold starts”.. highly dangerous and prone to creating the same type of dangerous conditions experienced on the Oriskany. As for that metallic blue... ??? It’s ****!!!

I agree, James' Arctic Metallic Blue is "****!!!"

Now let's get the facts straight on John McCain, here they are, check it out:

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/jo...uss-forrestal/.

The Truth is that John McCain was nearly killed in 1967 during the USS Forrestal fire (not the Oriskany) when an accidentally launched Zuni rocket hit his A-10. He escaped the burning jet and was trying to help another pilot escape when a bomb exploded. Although bomb fragments struck McCain in the legs and chest he continued to fight the fire and toss bombs overboard as part of the heroic efforts of all the sailors to save the ship. 134 sailors died on the Forrestal that day and another 161 were injured, including McCain. After recovering from his injuries and with the Forrestal decommissioned McCain volunteered for service on the USS Oriskany, was shot down, captured, tortured and spent more than five years in a Vietnamese prison camp. And all this time Trump was back in New York dodging the draft.

That's the Real News, now the Fake News.

What you're talking about Paul are the totally fabricated lies created in 2017 by a bunch of right wing Trumpist partisans in retaliation for McCain's well deserved criticism of Donald Trump. Typical extremist Right Wing tactics of the type used by Trump and the Russians to steal a US Presidential election in an effort to destroy our American democracy.

You really need to be more careful about what you believe Paul, it could get us in trouble. Let's have a beer or two at DGRR, sounds like we have lots to talk about.

hehe... You've seen my RX7

Yeah, I'm getting better. I could pay some guy to paint for me (my buddy is quite good), but its a matter of pride or something. For better or worse *I* did it, not someone.

Metalic's are a difficult paint to spray though. I did REALLY good on the front trunk panel. At least in my book. No runs, thick creamy clear, but the metallic stood up a little in the corner. If the rest of the body comes out better than this panel then I'll respray it, but I'm gonna take this one as a win.

I am going to have to respray the deck lid as it was positioned very cantankerously, and I wasn't able to properly cover it. Or get an even metallic control coat. But that's why I bought two gallon sized paint kits

Looking good James, is that the bonnet?

You're way ahead of me, my first attempt is just this side of a disaster, only good thing is it's keeping the sheet metal from rusting.

Ask Tim, he saw it in November when we were on the OGTA Camping Trip.

I don't think a marble would role down my hood the orange peel is so deep.

But I'm like you, I want to say "I did it" and getting good at painting cars is high on my to do list.

When that happens I'll post pics.

Ray, you are correct.. I got my carrier fires mixed up. It’s what happens when one relies on memory. It was the Forrestal.. but the stories remain the same.. it was during McCains Presidential run that these stories came out. And.. I didn’t hear them from Obama’s team either. Perhaps they were compensated by DNC but I don’t think so. There were 5-6 being interviewed and they were all very old. They all appeared credible and all were adamant that McCain not become president. All served on the Forrestal before and after the incident. They are are gone now.. I did however vote for McCain anyway.. sorry to say.. lesser of two evils.. BUT... that is one dang nice icy blue paint job goin on there.. can’t wait to see it all back together!!!

RUST???

Ray grab a $15 Harbor freight gun and buy a $60 can of auto paint from ebay and go to town on some of those panels you have in the shed. I know you have some doors in your collection.

I painted my old Cheyanne with the absolute cheapest ebay paint I could find. $60 for about a gallon and a half sprayable. Great practice, but of course like Tim wrote I've improved. My RX7 has some MAJOR flaws in the paint, but its still above my incredibly low standards, I'm like you "it covers the rust"

I need to follow your advice James, get some practice first before trying to go for the Gold.

I've got a decent gun, a Husky LPHV kit from HomeDepot, but I know I'm not using it right, I've either got the pressure or delivery volume wrong.

I'll paint some of those doors and see what happens.

And i like the rust on your Cheyanne, a truck is not a truck if it doesn't have rust.

Thanks for the explanation on the Forrester veterans Paul, I do remember the interview you're talking about from the 2008 Presidential campaign, it was an updated version of the Swiftboating used against Kerry by the right during the 2004 campaign. There is no shortage of Conservative Veterans in this country willing to twist the truth a little in support of their political preferences and the Right has learned to use them well.

But why rely on the memories of Old Men when we can just as easily discover what really happened? This is called Research. It's kind of like Science, it's based on the facts, not fading memories or political agendas.

I look forward to a couple beers, I'm buying.

That was the Ghia!!! O.o

I welded in new patch panels and had to weld in some new angle iron in the channels. This wasn't no sunday respray job LOL

Check out the gunman's youtube videos. He does a good job explaining things. Start with that cheapo single stage acrylic paint. I wouldn't waste my time with the dupicolor lacquer paint you get from autozone; I mean its not 1950 why are people still using lacquer paint??

Post some pics of the orange peel. You got me curious.

From what I understand, you can build up lacquer paint quite thick and it responds to wet sanding and buffing very well over time without worrying you'll burn through it completely. I prefer urethane base/clear

Are first gen rx7's lacquer? Cause I know I could buff my oem paint on my car before I painted it and it would shine so well. Until one day the primer started showing up

I also heard that lacquer does well with color sanding before clear.

THICK 2k clear for the win though.

damn!!! I knew if I acted like a rational conservative long enough you’d finally open up those cheap skate pockets of yours and buy me a beer! That’s all I wanted was a free beer from you!! I might even let you take the Mrs. Miata for a spin!! But honestly I’m thinking of offing both Mazda’s and getting me a rotary powered Kahrman Ghia..

I thought about the rotary Ghia... I decided against it. If it was a rail or a bug fine, but busses and Ghia's need Porsche engines (or as close as possible). Just like I don't like modified SA's. Don't know why just like stock SA's, but I don't care about a modified FB.

Last year at DGRR I saw an S4 N/A powered rail buggy. Super sweet, but he was just chilling at a gift shop in Cherokee not at the meet???

Respectable Conservatives are getting hard to find these days Paul, thanks for being one.

I feel badly for you guys having to defend a goon like Donald Trump, he needs to be put in a cage and fed bananas.

James I was exaggerating a bit about the orange peel on the LE (but not about Trump, words don't do him justice).

The marble might bounce a few times but it would probably roll. I'll get some pictures when I get a chance.

I've heard lacquer is the best finish too, harder to master but easier to get the best finish in the long run.

For some reason all the videos I run into are using enamels however, haven't a clue why.

I've got a lot to learn, I think I'm going to check out the local Tech School and see if they offer a class in automotive finishes.

Rotary Ghia sounds good you guys, you should give it a try. Way better than a porch engine:

THAT is a real find. That really hits the sweet spot. And they did it perfect. I can’t find a thing wrong with it. Blows the flat four away. I had two bugs,67 and 74 super beetle. Wish I had pics of the yellow 74.. Lots of mods. If was sweet but the Ghia my brother had was the one.. great lines. No matter what you do to that 1600 flat four it’ll still be a turd compared to rotary. But I get where you’re going with it.

You don't have to buy it Michael, you just need to be careful not to get your drool in your coffee.

I also had two beetles Paul, one a tan 1969 I drove when I was living out in Tucson, the other a green 1970 I drove during my college years in western Massachusetts.

Beetles taught me how to do auto mechanics, here was my guide, it taught me well:
