It was good, 4 RX8s, 1 FD, 1 FC, 1 Miata, and 1 Protege. And a few non-Mazda boingers. I didn't get any pictures of the cars.

What's that make the count? 5 12A equivalents?

There was a pretty blue GSL-SE at last night's Dinner and Doritos meet. The guy just picked it up 2 weeks ago.

The 8 belongs to Freddy. He is hardcore rotary guy and Puerto Rican. I had never met him before. In the pic he is standing in the back in the red shirt. He has had a ton of 1st and 2nd gens, I was surprised we had never crossed paths. He just recently got the 8, for a hell of a deal I might add.

Hey guys, so my car got damaged in a fire:

so I'm trying to get it fixed before Deals Gap and I'm looking for an inner fender for an SA. I may be able to get one from Ray, but it would probably be an FB version, probably different from the SA.
Anyone got anything?

Lightning struck my gas meter of all things, ran into the basement and hit my gas hot water heater setting it ablaze, car was close by. Luckily the lightning also blew the plumbing apart directly over the fire, suppressing the fire until we could get it put out. damaged the floor system for the main floor above and smoked up the entire house, but at least it didn't burn down and everybody got out, but If I had not had a fire extinguisher in the basement all would have been a total loss. We were very lucky. I haven't looked at the wheel closely yet, but the damage to it may be limited to cosmetic damage, not sure.

We are living over the garage in my "man cave", and working through the insurance thing, the got servepro doing the cleanup, and contractors to do repairs, the biggest mess is a basement full of car parts and miscellaneous junk that will have to be removed before the cleanup and restoration can take place. They are getting a storage container for the back yard to temporarily store everything. It all just a big mess at the moment. But its all good, Everyone is fine and we saved the house.

Dang Robert, that's terrible!

I'm blaming this one on Trump, nothing like this used to happen before he got elected.

You guys did have a bit of luck, but I'll give more credit to your quick action and having the fire extinguisher in the basement.

It was you, not luck, that saved the house. Nice work!

I was wondering about that fender liner myself, might be different between SA and FB. A little research should sort this out.

I want to contribute something, so I hope they fit.

Anywho, I'm sad to see your sweetheart all burnt like that, on Valentine's Day, no less.

You must be pretty unhappy.

But the SA will Rise Again, a Phoenix from the Ashes!

On a lighter note, I stopped at the Hamilton Mills WalMart on my way home today to pick up some brake fluid to bleed the Jeep.

As so often over the last five years, there's a venerable FB parked way out in the lot, always in the same place.

So this time I decided to find out who owned it, so I asked the guy who showed me where the brake fluid was and it was he.

Name's Larry, he has over 100,000 miles on that 85 unit.

Maintenance has been limited to one vacuum leak, the C shaped hose that goes from the Nikki to the manifold.

First Gens, you gotta love 'em!

Afterthought:

Robert, did you say "the biggest mess is a basement full of car parts and miscellaneous junk that will have to be removed"?

You had a fortune of 1st gen parts down there, unimaginable treasures. Do you want me to talk to the insurance guy?

"Do you want me to talk to the insurance guy?"

Thanks for the thought, but it wont be necessary, they are bringing in a temporary storage unit to store all the parts in till the cleanup is complete. None of the most precious stuff is in harms way. This may be sad to say, but if it all went up in flames some of our (meaning yours and mine) 12a engine parts may have been the saddest loss !!!!

I did lose a couple of boxes of miscellaneous SA parts and the adjuster just doesn't seem to get it that NLA parts appreciate rather than depreciate.

The hardest parts to source are that rubber end cap and strip on the SA bumper. If I had an extra I'd toss it to you.

Good to hear its all being sorted out. Maybe you can point the adjuster at some completed ebay sales of SA parts to convince him? Do you have collector car insurance on the cars at all?

The rubber end cap is even more of an issue because these are my lightweight fiberglass bumpers and the rubber end piece that melted is a JDM SA version, which is different from the USA part. I guess they were different because of American bumper standards. I may have to adapt an American one to work.

Just very recently got a hold of an FC drift mobile which completed my all gen rx7 collection. Has anyone come up with replacement for the Photobucket so I could post pics again?

I've been using one called imgur.com, fast uploads, simple hotlinking, no commercialization. Seems to work well, at least so far.

Let's see the FC!

Well I haven’t been keeping up here lately. Wow Robert!! That sucks!!! Glad you were able to quickly minimize the damage.

Anybody have an igniter they want to sell me? They’re $352.00 new and $100.00 used but tested at Atkins.

Atkins sells good stuff, but why not just use GM ignitors. They are hella plentiful and if you are tricky you can hide the wiring inside a hollowed out J 109. Then remote locate the HEI; you'll never know the difference nor will you see it.

Dang Dmitri that’s not an FC, that’s a Monster! Nice looking unit, looks like it runs too.

Got Details?

Old guys with 12As club meeting-vx0awpp.jpg

Robert, the SA is looking good, you should have it ready for DGRR with time to spare.

And it’s always a good idea to take the skin off an SA when it turns 40 and clean up the joints.

I hope you guys are recovering well from that gas explosion, let us know if we can help.

Paul I can help with the J-109, please PM me an address I’ll get it in the mail.

I finally got the brake job on the Jeep done, all new rotors, calipers and pads in front:

Old guys with 12As club meeting-6a4ogqe.jpg

New cylinders, shoes and drums in back:

Old guys with 12As club meeting-b7yd3fj.jpg

Plus Brett’s machined TJ wheels and the 10.5 x 31 Goodyear AT’s to give it that Jurassic Park Look:

Old guys with 12As club meeting-uvkohxi.jpg

And the mailman brought 1” lift kits for the body and engine from Daystar today, should make it look even more Jeepy.

Also the LE brakes are finished, same treatment as the Jeep front and back except I reused the rotors:
