Don't worry guys, I was just making that stuff up about selling the LE.

Fake News, you know? It's all the rage.

Paul, I'd no sooner do an LS1 swap into my LE (or any Wankel, for that matter) as vote for a Republican. It just ain't right.

In fact the LE is coming along fine, just held up a bit by a faulty front caliper from Rock Auto, the replacement's in the mail.

In the mean time here's a little video of the RB exhaust note for you guys lusting for an RB system:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plTbJkZlBEg&feature=youtu.be

James, what I want to know is why when I write "*****" in a post it gets censored, but when you write "penises" it doesn't?

Is the singular considered vulgar but the plural is OK? Or is it just me?

Anyway, to answer your question James, there is nothing wrong with the genital appearance of a first gen.

Prettiest car on the road!

Dunno there. I have one of each of the things in question... I'm sure if they were to copulate they would make a marvelous Vdubish thing. LOL

There is no question about the masculinity of the fIrst gen RX7. A guy in the shop said the other day "You drive a girly car man" (I made him upset by calling his automatic Hyundai* a girls car). And another guy made the point that it is EXTREEMLY uncommon to ever see a woman driving/owning an SA/FB. Outside of the internets I've never seen a woman behind the wheel of an SA/FB.

*I give no respect to Korean cars. Horrible build quality, lazy engineering, cut corner electrical, and all around bad cars.

SE’s do not have power assist steering. That’ll scare most chicks away all by itself. Heck I gotta buddy who drive mine once and whined about the hard steering. Ha !!

I believe the GSLs and GSL-SEs came with power steering as the standard option, all 5 of my 84/85 GSLs had power steering (which I promptly disabled).

But my current 83 GSL has factory non-power steering, as does the LE, so I think it was a matter of finding the car with the option you'd prefer.

Some folks like the disabled power steering boxes because of the tighter steering radius, but I was never a big fan of that feature, I just put up with it because almost all my driving is out on the interstate.

I much prefer the factory non-power steering that I have now on the 83's, none of that sissy power assist but still easy on the biceps.

Paul you were lucky to get the non-power option on your SE! And I agree on the Hundies, girly cars for sure.

James, what's a "Vdubish thing"? I googled it and the closest I could come up with was a James Brown play list.

Martin you might want to check with Tommy and his crew, they usually rent a cabin or two, a fantastic weekend guaranteed!

They even allow 13B's if you want to bring the FE.

Congrats Robert and Martin on your Homeland, today I'm an Alabamian!

Is that an invite Tim? You better check with the rest of the guys first!

And yes, the LE should be rolling by then.

Don't worry, I won't enter it in the Best First Gen contest, wouldn't be fair.

Tommy is the guy on the right.

He had just finished pasting Paul's SE back together at last year's DGRR, with expert help from Crit, Tim, Mike and Robert.

A good group to hang out with for sure.

Wow, lot's happening at OGTA recently, I need to check this thread more often.

Brett my marriage contract specifies equal time for Cathy's Jeep, so in order to buy time on the LE I need to do something nice to the Jeep.

So I started by getting some Big Tires:

Old guys with 12As club meeting-n8ckexz.jpg
Old guys with 12As club meeting-ehxo5bg.jpg

Of course I also need to refinish the Jeep Wheels, which is in progress:

Old guys with 12As club meeting-ot6iqqt.jpg
Old guys with 12As club meeting-31b7kwq.jpg

And while I had it up on blocks I figured a full brake job and clutch hydraulics was due, so I put in a Rock Auto order:

Old guys with 12As club meeting-xz2pezx.jpg
Old guys with 12As club meeting-gb3prdb.jpg

All new hydraulics, masters, slaves, calipers and soft brake lines. New drums, shoes, rotors and pads as well.

Old guys with 12As club meeting-usqkiky.jpg

Of course I needed to put a little fingernail polish on the drums, rotors and calipers:

Old guys with 12As club meeting-erfrk8i.jpg
Old guys with 12As club meeting-huehm87.jpg

So the Big Question is: Are those 31" x 10.5" Wranglers gonna fit without a lift?

Old guys with 12As club meeting-f94jp3m.jpg

Brett, do you still have your Jeep? What size tires are you running? Is it lifted? Do I need a lift kit? If so, which one?

Anybody else out there with Jeep experience and lots of advice for a Liberal?

What you guys been up to?

Love those big rock auto orders. Gonna get one for my RX7 soon.

Ray you might need some blocks. Fortunately Jeeps have a bigger calling and fan base than RX7's. Also, lift blocks should be easy enough to source being that its a jeep.

You've already got all the tires so go ahead and mount them up. If they don't fit give it a lift.

Yes I do still have the Jeep. I have those same size tires, you should have minimal scrubbing without a lift. Mine came with this Skyjacker 2" spacer lift and I have no issues, even with the front sway bar disconnected off road. It's a good budget lift that keeps the ride quality and body roll close to stock. If I don't sell it to get a better dad car, I'd like to put some 32" or 33" tires on it.

I have the 5 original polished bullet hole wheels that came on it, no tires on 4 of them and one on the spare. I've been meaning to put them on craigslist but have been dragging my feet. If you're interested in the set I can make you a heck of a OGTA deal. They will fit Cathy's Jeep just like her current ones.

Nice looking Jeep Brett!

We are also looking at a Skyjacker body lift for the YJ. I was thinking 1" to keep the gap between the body and frame small and avoiding extenders for the fuel tank, etc.

But now you got me thinking 2". Do you have any gap issues with the 2" TJ lift?

We were looking at some black 15 x 8 rims similar to the ones you've got mounted. Are they 8" wide, with the 31 x 10.5 tires on? Very Jeepy.

I also like the looks of those bullets! I'll have to check with the Jeep Gods to see what they say about putting 2nd gen parts on a 1st gen Jeep:

The Jeep Gods don't mind, I'm definitely interested in the bullets! I've got various items to offer in trade:

1) A mint original OGTA poster from the very 1st OGTA meeting held at Road Atlanta back in 2009. The one with the Old Gays with 12As graffiti on it.

2) An absolutely perfect pair of black rubber strut mount covers from a second gen RX-7. Very rare.

3) A set of nice SE irons, no lapping needed, ready for a six port rebuild. Enough to make you want an SE again.

4) Lots and lots of X wheels in excellent condition.

5) Cash dollars if needed.

Let's make an OGTA deal!

ray, i think u'll be good with just a 1" body lift. all that will be required is the 1" spacers and longer bolts. if that's not enough, add 1" suspension lift. that will get u a 2" lift with little if any other modifications needed.

That's what I figure Michael. Start by just putting the 31 x 10.5" tread on without doing anything.

Then if as expected it's too cluttered in there add a 1" body lift, good kits go for a bit over $100.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/PA911-Performance-Accessories-1-x-1-Front-and-Rear-Body-Lift-Kit/232212256231?hash=item3610edd5e7:g:H7gAAOSwU1FaAvP o&vxp=mtr

Then if even more lift is required, lift the suspension.

But a true suspension lift means replacing all four leaf springs, this is where you get into $500 territory.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rugged-Ridge-18401-20-Suspension-Lift-Kit-Fits-87-95-Wrangler-YJ/272699019218?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid =p2060353.m1438.l2649

A much cheaper solution would be replacing the front and rear stock shackles with boomerang shackles.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rough-Count...4383.l4275.c10

Relatively cheap at a bit over $100 and very cool looking, especially if Brett sells me his TJ bullet wheels!

Hey guys, I picked up another 84 GSL-SE today. It has a brown interior. I got it from the original owner with 120k miles. It has sat for 6 years. They said the engine has 30k miles and they parked it running outside. 100% original except wheels and stereo.
