I remember el don charlie.... awesom car sounded very nasty... Anyways, the only reason for taking the car to a shop is not enough time/knowledge... Sometimes the best outcome is when you do it yourself... Plus these engines are pretty simple to do so its better to do it on your own.

And I dont want to start nothing. But I heard good/bad from many people about alex lopez. But there is always 2 sides to a story. This one guy got his car built by charlie. Single turbo, fmic, ported motor etc... Shit was sick. But soon after I see his car at autopro gettin painted, then I see him at the meets(this was a while ago) and ask him about his car.. He replied charlie doesnt know shit, he built my motor wrong, and I ended up blowin it.. Lol This guy was boosting about 12-15psi on nothing but the stock ecu and stock fuel sys. not even safc nothing. Charlie told him about the fuel and all this shit, but he wanted his car back and thought he spent enough money.. and then got mad cus he didnt want to warranty the motor.

vvvvvBuilt by myself, if anything happens cant blame anybody but mevvvvvvv..

kilo racing in orlando, fl he is a true guru, i dont kno if you've seen his car (black first gen. w/ 20B, track car) he's in a whole bunch of magazines and stuff never heard of any complaints about him

NAVDREG 06-08-05 10:34 PM

Hey Guys ! I dont think that its right to Mudsling anyone... regardless of the personal experiences that we may have had. I have only gotten the opportunity to meet Alex Lopez recently since I started "The Miami RX7 Club" and organizing all of the events around Miami ... I went to his shop and we chatted from what seemed to be an hour or so and I was treated with the utmost courtesy. I asked him to direct and honest and that is exactly what I perceived from Alex. On that same day I bought an item from him and was able to return back on many other ocassions to purchase other items that I needed for my 4 Rotor project build. Other area Tuners that I have spoken to have had positive things to say about him as well as they at times turn to him for advice. So my Thumbs up to Alex Lopez of LOPEZ RACING

OK guys i can only talk about the truth of my experiance and not add or make anything up of what am about to say. lets start with charlie from auto teck i know him personally and if he reads this he knows what am talking about. he rebuilt my 93 rx7 engine he took about 5 months to finish it and did not only do a low compresion motor but installed old parts in my engine when i paid him for new parts the car ran like crap and it never had good power.it was not long when my engine died later to know he was a student from the so called rotor guru that has the num 1 record of blowing engines. why? because alex lopez killed 3 of my engines in a matter of a year and never finished the job right he does not know how to tune microtech and does not know how to use his $75.000.000 dyno. i am a living proof of this and it has to stop he also experiments with other apex seals that were not original from mazda thats why he destroyed the second rebuild on the dyno which he confest after i asked him what went wrong. after rebuilding it again for the third time he wanted me to pay him $300.00 for the dyno run which he did not finish and was horrible which i did not agree unltill it was done completely he then WHENT MAD TOOK ME FOR A TEST DRIVE THAT FURIOUSLY DROVE MY CAR TO THE MAX UNTILL HE DESTROYD IT AGAIN AND WHAT EVEN IS WORSE HE ADMITED TO IT BECAUSE HE SAYS NO BODY APRECIATES HES WORK.DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENCE AFTER SPENDING OVER $7000.OO DOLLARS WITH THIS LOPEZ RACING ALL OF YOU SHOULD KNOW HE IS THE WORSE OF THE WORSE AND NO ONE SHOULD GO THRU THIS AGAIN AND I WILL MAKE SURE EVERYBODY KNOWS ABOUT YOU AND YOUR FALLOWERS THANKS A LOT GUYS.ROGER

Hey everyone !

Thiis is Charlie from Auto Tech Rotary.

Hey Roger, No time no hear about you .... I just wanted to let you know that as a man I respect everything that you say, but I dont respect people who lie.

To let you know that when I built your motor... Yes, it took a while but if you have proof that the parts that i used were used I would like for you to show me. If you want we can set up a meeting between You (roger) , PNC (Pepe) , Lopez Racing (Alex), and myself included. i dont know who was the one that opened your motor and told you that the parts were used. I dont remember how long the low compression motor that i supposedly built for you lasted. If I am not mistaken, It was between 3 and 4 years. What I had heard and you can correct me if I am wrong ; the motor blew up because of overboosting on stock injectors and stock fuel pump. I am just trying to straighten this matter up with you. If I am wrong, correct me. All the things that have happened with your car that i heard i dont go around talking about them because i dont know if they are true or not.

if I would talk about them its because they came out of your mouth. If anithing that you need to talk to me ,, please feel free to call me at my shop or my cell which you should have.

BTW, your car looks good in the video. But it doesnt look good than Automatic Mercedes with the top down beat you.

Take care and best regards,

Don Charlie

LISTEN DON CHARLIE FROM THE DAY YOUR FRIEND PEPE FROM PNC INSTALLED MY ENGINE AND TRIED TO START IT UP FOR ABOUT 20 TIMES BEFORE IT FINALLY STARTED IT ALLWAYS HAD LOW COMPRESSION I COURENT EVEN TURN THE AC ON BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD DIE. I TOLD YOU ABOUT THE LOW COMPREISSION AND ALL YOU SAID IS THAT IT WAS FINE AND THAT ALL I NERED TO DO WAS BOOST IT TO ABOUT 15PSI THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. WELL EVERYTHING WAS NOT FINE THE CAR RAN LIKE SHITT AND YOU WERENT DOING ANYTHING TO FIX IT TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE I TOOK THE CAR TO THE ALEX LOPEZ WHO COMPLITED THE DESTRUCTION OF MY CAR.ALL OF YOU GO TO ALEX ONLY FOR THE ROTARY PARTS THAT YOU KNOW YOU CANT BUY WITHOUT HIM AND HIS DISCOUNTS AND FOR ANY OTHER BAD ADVICE IF IT WASENT FOR THAT HIS SHOP WOULD BE CLOSED BY NOW BECAUSE AT THIS POINT HIS VIRUS OF A BAD MECHANIC HAS SPRED ALL OVER.FOR YOUR INFORMATION ALEX LOPEZ HIM SELF OPENED THE ENGINE AND IT WAS HIM WHO TOLD ME THAT MOST OF THE PARST WERE USED AND THAT YOU DID A TERRIBLE JOB, USED SIDE SEALS AND MOST OF THE OTHER PARST SO IF YOU WANT TO TALK TO HIM ABOUT IT THATS UP TO YOU BUT I PERSONALLY DONT LIKE THE WAY YOU BUILT MY ENGINE AND THE WAY YOU WORK. YOU TAKE TO LONG GIVE TOO MANY EXCUSES AND INSTALL USED PARTS. LATER TO FIND OUT WHY I HEARD YOU USE TO WORK FOR ALEX AND LEARND HIS BAD HABITS THATS WHY IT ALL MADE SENSE. ANYWAY YOU STILL MITE HAVE A CHACE TO DO THINGS RIGHT BECAUSE AFTER ALL YOUR NOT A BAD GUY JUST A GUY THAT LERNED FROM THE WRONG TEACHER DO THINGS WRIGHT AND YOU WILL SEE HOW IT WILL PAY BACK I DONT WANT TO BE FIGHTING WITH ANYONE ANYMORE I AM VERY CAREFULL WITH WHO WORKS ON MY CAR NOW AND LIFE GOES ON LATER PEOPLES.ROGER.

if your looking for a dyno in fort walton beach go to adam's automotive in crestview.
johnny adams is the only guy i'll let under my hood in this area. he has already told me that he is not familiar enough with them to rebuild a rotary, BUT, he can do any installing you want. i have had him do various things to my engine. he also understands my need for speed and can relate to performance issues/questions i ask him about.i have 2 other places i will also let do other non-engine work.

Mura 07-16-05 01:31 PM

Yea, I just went over to Ortiz's Speed shop today. Bitch didn't pay me any attention....at all. He looks at me, then continues grinding at the rotar housing. So I go inside. He's still grinding. I go back outside, doesn't pay any attention to me again, then gets on the phone and starts talking. He somewhat walks towards me, and....nothing. 3 spanish kids pull up in a old civic, and the guy starts talking to them and doing business with them. As far as I know, the first rule about running a business is that, if you see a customer or someone with a curious look on their face, walk up to your shop about 5 feet away from you, you drop what you're doing and ask them if they need any help or have any questions. Yea, never again will I ever waste gas going to this guys shop. A big middle finger for Ortiz's Speed shop. Yet, I heard he was good...he must be good at something else, but customer service, he sure does suck.

R.P.M. Racing
2710 French Ave
Sanford, FL 32773
407-578-6977 or 407-324-5927

Johnny has been working on rotaries for over 15 years. He has done 3 cars for me personally and I would recommend him to anyone that wants it done right for a good price. He does everything: complete rebuilds, porting (all types), performance upgrades, suspension, fabricating, welding, you name it!

Anyone heard anything about Rotary garage in Tampa florida?

zzeeexlover 09-26-05 02:57 PM

Don't know what a good price is.. I got a great price on mine because they took so long they did the street porting for free... (they took over a month after promising 1-2 weeks) Mine was only 1,100 through Jax Motors... which might be too far North for you.

Anyways I want to add them to the list :

Jax Motors
7238 Atlantic Blvd.
Jacksonville, FL 322??
904 723 3455

The mechanic's name is Steven
The owner is Luis

They did a great job on my car once it was done... Not sure if they work on FD's cause I've never seen one in there.. but FS's, FB's and FC's I've seen in there

hey guys long time since i beeen on those that know me know i have suffered to have my car running which it is not now for three years. i went to kilo in orlando supposedly he is the best well whwne i got my car back my tilt steering was gone wires were all out and the next day after getting to miami my wiring was shot to where my windows and top did not go down yeah my engine ran but not the way it should and mazda pros in miami well needless to say before i converted my non turbo convertible to a turbo II convertible i went in to fix something and came out with another problem a few weeks later. to the point that this coming january i am leaving to a mechanic school to learn how to work on engines and specialize in rotrorys it is sad i got to waste money and time in going to school just to be able to get my car fixed but i will say this i feel sorry for all the so called rotory mechanics in miami and near by areas cause i am going to open a shop and give the best prices as well as in vite my customers in to learn about and see how to work on thier cars we rx7 and rotory owns need an honest mechanic and i am going to step up to the plate yeah some may be better then me when i get out cause nothing beats expierience but i will say this at least i wont ip people off the weay i have been and by the way pro link japan owned by brian in hollywood florida is a another rip off i payed for a 91 jdm rotory and turns out i got an 88 which i learned and is why i asked for a 91 that the rotor is built for higher compressions and payed 2500 for nothing guys sory if i am ranting but i dont want people to go thru what i have gone thru i will say this when i am done with school i will be working on mine and other for free till i get the expierience i feel comfortible with as me and my two friends are gonna open up a shop i will be studing in making high performance cars so hopefully you guys wont have any more issuesgeting your cars fixed cause i dnt see thepont in wasting seven grand like i have to have a lawn ornament and that is not counting what i paid for the car so with this said please dont trust those guys i mentioned they are thiefs

MasteOfChristine 10-01-05 06:40 PM

and i forgot to state that my car was in orlando for almost 6 months i would figure six months it comes out being sweet but i guess that is too much to ask for from the thiefs in our industry in total the car spent from shop to shop two years sitting and one in my house and i have driven it maybe 600 miles in the past three years talk about keeping low mileage

93FDlove 10-06-05 12:17 PM

I was wondering if i can get some info on the shops in the Orlando area.

I was looking into buying a 93 FD and i want to do all the reliability mods but i need to get the car now and for the next couple of months i wont have time to do the work myself. So i was wondering what would be the best shop to go to to have these mods installed for me. Things like replacing all the vacume hoses replacing the pre cat with a downpipe and replacing the AST.

If you're in Orlando I've heard nothing but good things about Central Florida Turbo. I'm actually driving my FD down to CFT from North Carolina within the next month or two. Check them out at www.centralfloridaturbo.com. They have some nice videos on the site too.

I know for a fact that Alex Lopez owes it to CLR

Did u know that Carlos Lopez built Alex's motors and the bastard took the credit for it when he was asked. in fact that Carlos Lopez who paints his motors red and silver and then Alex won a race and had painted the engine in his signature yellow and silver so he could pass it off as one of his motors. then when the motor blew Alex had the audacity to take it back to carlos so he could work on it.

just thought that i would share that piece of information.. it is a fact just ask anyone who has been around.

RXn407 10-23-05 10:58 AM

I went to ORTIZ RACING for a tranny prob. that I had . and someone else told me that it had to be replaced i went to Ortiz and he fixed it byreplacing the bushings in the shifter. I had originally asked him if he had a Tii tranny for sale and he OFFERED to check out my car to see if the tranny did in fact need replacing. So to end this story he found the prob.(bushings) replaced and all labor for 25 bucks. also CFT is where a lot of central florida shops take their cars to be dyno'ed. I dont know how expensive or not they are but I hear that they know their shit all the way around the board. ALSO.... There is a guy named jerry around Orlando that claims to do work on rotaries hes always at the track and hangs out w/ Toledo from TOLEDO RACING. He has a 808 turned rx-3 .. DO NOT MESS W/ THIS GUY PLEASE !! SAVE YOUR $ AND DRAMA!!! TRUST THAT! -Erik
