Lopez Racing Sucks ass

Lopez Racing in Miami by Alex Lopez, not Carlos Lopez,
Talk about the worse mechanic ever, this is definately someone you do NOT want to have working under your hood. This man is a thief and a fraud, and i (along with several others) are class action sewing his ass for literally destroying my 93 RX7, and using old parts, and original parts like apex seals ect that we paid for, avoid this shop like that fat girl you kissed in 6th grade!!!!

its funny you mention alex lopez cause he once did something in front of me while i was purchasing a lower intake manifold or a weber 48ida back in the day . this is what he did. 1st he had a 12a short block laying on the floor and i hear someone say "ya he's coming to get the engine but he wanted the intake holes on the side plates ported " so alex takes out a dremel and says" he wants them ported ok" so he proceeds to grind away at the intake holes creating metal debris which mind you is all falling inside the engine. once he's done he gets some wd40 spays it in the intake holes to clean the debris washing it inside the block . then he spins it a few times to sort of clean it out. then some poor chump came later on that day and bought that engine . wouldnt all that metal thats grinded off of an engine have some sort of bad effect on seals and compression ? what was he thinkin. anyway i only went by his shop for parts only . ive seen him do other questionable stuff but since he wasnt my mechanic i didnt care. good ol alex

I've never taken my car to Alex Lopez but many of my friends have and they all recomend me to him. Also many other rotary guys recomend me to Lopez whenever I run into them on the street. I take my car to

Service Auto
7023 S.W. 46th ST
Miami, FL 33155

They don't do any aftermarket ordering or instalations but the machanic there is really good at working on rotarys.

TO4E-SE 02-21-05 08:14 PM

dont get me wrong. i love alex , ive know him for like 8 years and ive purchased tons of stuff from him . he mad me laugh and traumatized me at the same time seeing him port an assembled engine that is fragile to the smallest debris. ive seen him in action tuning and building and he is good. he just messed it with that one time and thats all it takes .

Posts: 11 So Called Rotor Guru Is A Rotor Destroyller.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK guys i can only talk about the truth of my experiance and not add or make anything up of what am about to say. lets start with charlie from auto teck i know him personally and if he reads this he knows what am talking about. he rebuilt my 93 rx7 engine he took about 5 months to finish it and did not only do a low compresion motor but installed old parts in my engine when i paid him for new parts the car ran like crap and it never had good power.it was not long when my engine died later to know he was a student from the so called rotor guru that has the num 1 record of blowing engines. why? because alex lopez killed 3 of my engines in a matter of a year and never finished the job right he does not know how to tune microtech and does not know how to use his $75.000.000 dyno. i am a living proof of this and it has to stop he also experiments with other apex seals that were not original from mazda thats why he destroyed the second rebuild on the dyno which he confest after i asked him what went wrong. after rebuilding it again for the third time he wanted me to pay him $300.00 for the dyno run which he did not finish and was horrible which i did not agree unltill it was done completely he then WHENT MAD TOOK ME FOR A TEST DRIVE THAT FURIOUSLY DROVE MY CAR TO THE MAX UNTILL HE DESTROYD IT AGAIN AND WHAT EVEN IS WORSE HE ADMITED TO IT BECAUSE HE SAYS NO BODY APRECIATES HES WORK.DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENCE AFTER SPENDING OVER $7000.OO DOLLARS WITH THIS LOPEZ RACING ALL OF YOU SHOULD KNOW HE IS THE WORSE OF THE WORSE AND NO ONE SHOULD GO THRU THIS AGAIN AND I WILL MAKE SURE EVERYBODY KNOWS ABOUT YOU AND YOUR FALLOWERS THANKS A LOT GUYS.ROGER

TO4E-SE 02-24-05 06:53 PM

im my personal expierience with rotary shops some will reuse good (used )apex seals ,even if youve paid for new ones . ive seen that in many many shops . if you are going to have an engine rebuilt with new apex seal then may i suggest when its time for the internals to go in for you to try and be there personally. one example of a person who i saw do this was Switche .forgot his real name , anyway we were at his shop he was installing my 48weber IDA . he stopped workin on my car and went to measure some seals he had in a folgers coffee can , took out the micrometer and started measuring the seals while telling me that the seals were for a client who paid for NEW seals . this made me sick to my stomach . then he told me he was going to use the new seals from mazda and put them on his race car . in my mind i couldnt understand why he would do that . but he had good parts laying around so i would always go by and hang out . so if you pay for NEW stuff you should get new stuff but some people cut corners to make a profit . i even knew a mechanic at pettit who did the same . so you never know who will do this to you .im sorry to hear about your car and the 3 rebuilds . i know everytime ive had new internals installed i was there with my mechanic putting them in .

My experience

I will have to say that MY experience with Alex Lopez has been great. Ive known him about a few years now, and finally got my turboII built by him. I know alot of his customers and from the word on the street i beleive Alex builds the best motors in Miami. I hear of people that go to Pettit and other shops and have blown about 4 motors in 2 years, and each motor costing about 4 grand or more. About him not knowing what he is doing on the dyno, i cannot agree, for he dyno tuned my car and it is now making 301.7 h.p on the 100% stock engine. My car is very fuking reliable now and very fuking fast. I am not saying anything of your bad encounter with him, but My experience and the experience of his other many customers i know have been great. I plan on continuing going to Alex lopez for all my rotary needs. The baddest rotaries ive seen in Miami come form Alex Lopez.

Lopez Racing Fraudulent Dickmonkey

Alex Lopez also likes to take credit for tuning peoples vehicles when he didnt. I know a guy "Paul" who has a 1st gen with 437 WHP, admits that you didnt tune it, and you like to admit that you did tune it. It was actually the guy from microtech that tuned it in your shop when here was here from Tennessee. Sounds like a bunch of BS, luckily for him, that the guy was there cause Alex was attempting to learn the dyno, and using us as guinea pigs, if you wanna learn, thats cool, but use your Boty or pussy whatever your lil grocery getter is called, we all know you stabbed some old lady in the neck in hialeah for that car. So just come out of your shell and tell the truth.

LOPEZ RACING :piss:

TNSLPPTSO 03-04-05 09:16 PM

i was doing a search on google to find out if anyone else has had problems with Lopez Racing, and i just bumped into this thread. I prefer to remain annonymous cause i dont really think Alex is a dick or anything, but i will say that when i was at his shop i saw some shit that i couldnt believe with my own two eyes. I have heard very good things from lopez racing, and their numbers are impressive, but i got the impression when i was there that they care more about their cars than for the customers, and i saw people from lopez racing swapping parts from customers engine with their own ,which to me is unacceptable. I heard one guy saying "take it from that engine, that dumbass wont know its missing", although it was in spanish , thats the pretty much the translation. So, as for what happened to a few people online here, i cant vouch for you cause i dont know you, but most definately i just wanted to let my voice be heard.

He rebuilt my motor in a month I dont consider that slow (took out, rebuilt, and put back), and it seems to run fine. The only thing I provided was the housings.

so you dont consider a engine rebuilt in a month slow? i guess you have other cars to get around with but what happens when other people depend on that vehicle like there only way of transportation? a month without a car to get to work or anything whould be crazzy. at the time i only had my 3 gen and a bmw that my wife drove to work. i actually had to buy a old 89 honda accond to get around because alex was taking so long and i wasent the only one maibe you saw a black 3 gen that was also there even before me lets say the car from begining to end was there for almost 2 years and on top of that the guy keeps briging the car back to alex because there is always something wrong with it. the last time i was in the shop before my big problem with alex the black rx7 was taken to alex again and he got so frustrated with the car that he just took it to his house and left it there untill he felt like messing with it . again he courent fix the problem. to this day i dont even know if the car is still at his house and the guy that owns the car has spent like $15.000 or more i hope he comes out as well and tells everybothe how long he has been waiting and all the problems he has had. that guy told alex i want the fastest rx7 in miami so far all ive seen is that its been the longuest most frustrating reapair of his life overall i wish the guy good luck because i spoke to him a few times and he semed like a nice guy.later my friends.Roger.

EVERYONE has a right to speak their mind on their own expieriences and you shouldnt get mad or call him childish . if you are mature enough then you shouldn't laugh at him for the trouble he has endured with alex lopez. have you had your engine fully rebuilt by Alex? if so let us know what (+) feedback you can share instead of sounding like a bunch of 4th graders .

fc3s-gxl 03-05-05 11:50 PM

ive known alex for about 3yrs now and my exp with him is great he takes care of me and stuff. so im happy with that . btw that black 3rd gen its been done like last year around oct 04 . so it pretty sick. the guy told alex he i want my car to bet bikes ( imagine betting a bike that a bike speed odo looks like rpm's) and so alex did what he did and accomplised this guys dream . so preety much roger stop crying like a bitch and remember if you rush shit you f*#k up . that y your sh*ts all messed up

I bought a used engine of a friend, and I did a compression test "95,95". So I figure it might be a good Idea to refresh the engine b4 the Microtech goes in. If you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself.

http://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/cu...71&cat=0&page=

rx7theone....... $7000 is alot of money man. I'm glad you finally got you're car straight. I've only met Lopez once, and all I did was buy my fuel filter of him, so I can't really comment. He seemed like a pretty cool guy to me though.

lopez racing 03-06-05 03:28 AM

we know wat we can do

yea i understand wat ur saying but i work at lopez racing and everyday roger would come and rush alex dont u guy understand that wat he wanted was about 400 to 500 hp. u cant built that in a week or a mouth we have to wit for parts to come in and there are other car that were there before him so we just have to stop everything to finsh he car come on people if u were doing a project like that would u like to wait and have so much power that nothing on the street not even a bike well wat ever look at it however u want we know wat we can do and we know power that we can make lil pete lopez racing

Totmacher 03-06-05 04:04 AM

I am just gonan add this inorder to show ppl that do not know alex personally wont get the wrong idea in beleiving that he does not know what he is doing.
I am at his shop alot. And I have seen countless amounts of other rotary tuners from big shops go to alex for parts adn scope out his projects. I don;t know but if you ask me, big fuking shops liek the ones ive seen shouldnt have to go to a lil shop like Alex's for parts or advise and shit, and shouldnt feel threatened by his "grocery Getter". Hey... Why would someone be scared of La Vira, or Boty, or the 1st gen he has....they are just reliable drag cars that barely break down, and make power in the 400 and up range. Not just his personal cars, but dude the street cars that come out of there cant be Fucked with. hmmm. I wanna see h.p numbers liek the ones that come out of that shop....period. If i want power i am willing to wait. I understand it could piss someone off to wait, but were not talking about ricer upgrades here that are bolt on, this is custom fuking work, and the time put in it shows in the end. For the job Alex does, the price is pretty good thats all i can say.

SiKoPaThX 03-06-05 08:31 PM

Jose at PNC is off of 216 right next to the turnpike. I live in kendall and thats where I go.

Totmacher 03-07-05 06:47 PM

apex seals

"And why did they use cheaper apex seals as opposed to factory mazda seals?"

If you ask for factory seals, Alex puts them. But most of the racing motors he builds use different seals. He makes racing oil seals which are nto factory and hold more power. And I know he dosnt use factory apex seals, im not sure which does he use. Point is that because they arent factory does not mean they are bad, they hold more power. However if a customer pays for factory ones thats wat he gets.

TEZTnTUNE 03-07-05 08:58 PM

ive had lots of experience working for shops and dealing with customers. the bottom line is these complaints that people have are valid ones. that being said im sure a few are a bit exagerated. on the other hand i know how a lot of these shops work, many places cut corners and do not so honest things. but its really the customers responsability now to do there homework. theres just so many "tuner" shops out there. u really have to do your research to find the right ones. yeah it sucks for the customers but eventually all the sub standard places will be weeded out. and all with be wel with the world.

shotcallerx7 03-08-05 09:59 AM

Another shop not mentioned is
GNS Racing
460nw 68th ave
ocala fl 34482
352 237 7955

we build full chassis race cars
welding and alumium work
all aspects of rotary work in any rotary car
also in the process of buying import-dyne mustang dyno

as regards to all the trash talking i can say carlos lopez is a good place to take your car and he would "school" most if not all the people in the country and P.R. about rotarys. Very very smart.

Casey

TNSLPPTSO 03-08-05 04:47 PM

Carlos Lopez in not in question as per what most people were saying, it appears Alex Lopez is the one people are taking shit about

dvls-7 03-12-05 06:58 AM

I don't know about the rest of the people here, but I for one am getting tired of all this crap. This thread was started as a way to inform people of the different shops in FL. Not for it to turn into a personal bitch fest between people.
All this crap needs to be in the good/bad guy section or take it to PMs. But to clutter this thread with B.S. and idle threats is ridiculous and childish.

TitosToy 03-16-05 01:11 PM

ok..now that everyone is cool, do any of these shops offer dyno pulls..preferably the ft. laud area? and if so, how much? thanks guys

and Driving Force.. on Philips Hwy..
not too much so about Revolution Racing off beach blvd..
and good feedback about some guy named Isaac in the OP area as well..

Anyone hear ever dealt with Cartek Tuning? According to their web site, they seem to specialize in Acura/Honda. I have an FD with an E6K that needs to be tuned.

Whatever website or webpage you saw is old. There is one being done at this time. Either go by or call, ask for Stephan. He'll work with you to get you sorted out.

shops in jacksonville

please please do not go to Isaac he "helped" my friend with a t II well entire drive train and tranny were swapped by Isaac for non turbo parts so he could resell. he did this to a friend of his. someone who was helping him obtain new business. as for Driving Force on Phillips, I used to know Ron, owner. he is phenomonal with rotaries, if he is not to busy and can stay away from the woman when he is working on your car. I have seen him personally tear apart his 1 gen motor in 24 hours, complete rebuild more horsepower and run great at the track, I have also followed him home limping on one housing the other tore to shreds. I have seen him fix what the mexican down the road from him could not get to work a 2gen 2nd version automatic putting in a mazda reman, with lots of little issues. I have also seen him take on show car conversions a honda civic hatch back turn all bumpers, mouldings etc into a 1 piece car paint and all look fabulous, but took much longer than promised, he took on a 240 silvia conversion got almost complete front clip from japan, promised for nopi 03 sept atlanta got car in spring time and could not obtain a wiring harness or fabricate one, all the while claiming he has this awesome 3rd gen, kept in a security storage facility temp control on computers, we went to tallahassee where is kept, he couldn't show me. point is unless you have the time to become his friend first and watch him with your car i would not want to run the risk of getting jacked. oh silvia was not done as of spring 04 , last i knew, courts were threatened by owner of car. i have heard shane of rotary works to be decent to all my .02 have a 2nd car with a rx7 do work yourself, and if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, ask for help from a local 7 owner, not a shop. atkins remans sound mighty nice or mazda reman. just for someone who thinks all shops evil

josh greene 04-05-05 05:28 PM

best /cheepest place to get a rebuild in florida??? im planning on pulling the motor myself im just not comfortable messing with the engine internals.

BUMBLEBEE7 04-05-05 05:41 PM

check out Carlos Gonzales he is in Ocala FL, hes good

rob20rx7 04-05-05 11:35 PM

Ha! when it comes to Rotaries, Dont go with the cheapest. YOU, will get what you pay for. and i would recomend asking for previous work done maybe even check out some previous work the mech has done. Good customers are always willing to flaunt thier good mechanics and bad ones even more. this way you dont go for who cheapest but rather for who is willing to commit to your goals and what you want to do with your car while keeping reliability a priority. any one can say they will rebuild your car for 2500.00 to even 5500.00 given that a complete rebuild kit less Oil rings is going to run you about 1200.00 to 1600.00. the rest is labor and thats where the experience comes in. you need someone that pays attention to deatil when it comes to putting these things together like clearances gaps and tolerances, ETC. when you put all these together you should have a reliable engine bulider that can build you a strong engine.

RochX7 04-06-05 06:57 AM

don't trust any shops period.. imo

they think more of themselves than customers..

whatever saves them money and time..!

THAT's the FINAL Conclusion!!!

rx7theone 04-09-05 08:24 PM

i know a little bit about cars so im not completely brainless on it but ive never owned a rotory engine automobile. Im trying to get as much information as possiable about the car before i get it so i dont have to go look for it later when something happens.
