Looks like a few guys are coming down from the RRDI, we know Smoken' as Steve 'cause that's what his tires do. He is going to school somewhere around Statesville on an RRDI scholarship so that he can come back to the RTP area and keep all our rotaries running. Looks like we'll have 5-6 drivers coming to Charlotte that weekend. Keith has a beautiful vert and I haven't seen his new wheels or his new ragtop.

man it looks like its going to be a good turn out down here, i cant wait to see all the cars down there, its going to be my first meet so its going to be fun. cant wait, and has any one decided where were going to go eat?? any ideas around the area. some where not to expensive but where we can get a large party table. and if we get it all figured out maybe we can make resevatoins some where so its not a huge suprise when we all show up.

Nope, my entire 12a turbo setup is up for grabs if anyone here locally wants it, would defineatly help by not having to ship, plus you could see it on my car before I take it off. Picking up a GSL-SE this weekend which will recieve a J-spec 13bt swap w/ a 60-1 hopefully by april or may.

Suppose I could still drive it up there on 1 rotor, still starts w/ a flick of the key ;)

hey you can run down I40 East all the way to Statesville and get on I77 south, that will take you south all the way to exit 18 on I77. from there you just take a right off the exit and the mall is up on the right. Im pretty sure thats how it goes, can any one confirm this for me

thanx...so roughly how far is it on i-77?? just wondering if it would be shorter/quicker to possibly head towards charlotte...(i77 is one of the roads i dont know!!)

It might be faster to take 74 thru Shelby to 85N toward Charlotte and go from there. Check www.mapquest.com that will tell you the quickest way (not being a smartass).

But, if at all possible, don't go through Shelby. 74 would save time, except for the 3,739 traffic lites that are in just shelby's little section of 74.

But yeah, since you are in Asheville, I'd go East on I-26 (Towards Spartanburg, columbia, etc). Exit onto hwy 74 and head East. You'll go through Shelby and Kings Mountain before you can exit onto I-85. Go Northbound on I-85. You'll go pass Gastonia and go into Charlotte. Take I-77 South and follow the previous directions to the mall.

Like I said though, Shelby will be no fun at all with all the traffic lites.

The simplest way to bypass all that would be to take I-26 East until you get to Spartanburg where it intersects with I-85. Take I-85 Northbound. You'll go past Gastonia and go into Charlotte. Take I-77 South and follow the previous directions to the mall.

It's really your call, but those are best ways I can think of if you are coming from Asheville.

Found a 12a in Winston for 125 bucks, goin in Fri. so I should be able to make it now

I hate to be another "try to come", but I will. It's a bit of a drive for me (New York), but it looks like the only meet on the calendar this year, so I want to be there.

Got the Master and Slave Cylinders installed...bleed the air...Now the damn car won't start! I stopped driving it over a year ago when the clutch master went out...was running fine then. Gotta pull the fuel pump/lines and see whats up. Hopefully will have it running in 2 weeks!

my car should be done.... i dont know if ill be back from wcu that weekend.

we just got into town today and this comming week is spring break. Its a 3 hour drive to come back and well... im not sure if ill have a ride back one week after spring break.

we will see. really depends on how the car is at the end of this week.

hey, i told rotorsports about it. i think they may be down to make a showing.

also, i went to the go cart place and i found out that we can get a discount for an hour ride if we have enough people and we put mone down to hold a spot. is anyone interested? these carts are bad ass. they do over 40mph.

that sounds like it would be fun but we need to make sure we give our selves plenty of time to eat and talk about things. since this is the first meet we need to make sure that is the priority. not saying the go-carst arent a good idea i would like to do it but is there a time frame we would haveto meet and how much is it first off

Well it's looking like I'll probably be able to make it. Got the vert back last week with a "new" transmission in it... As long as it holds out for another couple of weeks, I'll be there. Noticed some serious vibrations (buzzing) at certain rpms that transfers through the shifter. Kind of annoying on long drives... Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed that this tranny doesn't go out on me !

Got the motor in this past sat. Still got a few little kinks left in it to work out, but will defineatly be there.

we started putting my kit on tonight. the car will be ready but i dont know if ill be in town.

i'm gonna be cuttin it real close, but i should be there... car painted and everything!

wish mine was all done like some of you guys but its running and its going good so far knock on wood. well just over a week till the meet. any body come up with an idea where to eat, or anything else about the gocarts????? its getting close so we should try to get most of this figured out now and not wait till that night.

Hey Keith, great to hear that you got the tranny rebuilt and are ready to rumble. Since I'm not going to be able to make it to Deals Gap this year I am going to Charlotte next weekend.

I will find out tonight if we have any other RRDI members going down to Charlotte for the rotor fest. It would be fun to go down to Charolotte the back way and maybe find some fun roads to drive. We should have a good turnout tonight after the last Drive-In and today's weather forecast. Hope to see you at the Char Grill,

here is the link to the mall directions, i tried map questing it and it will not work for me but here are some basic directions

everyone look onthe area map provided on the link and see where you think we should meet, it gives store names and i think we should meet in front of dicks or behind the theater area. just my opinion but we need some one in the area to tell us where is the best place to meet up so we dont get ran off

i say in front where everyone can see us and evyously drool over themselves.

yeah thats what i think infront of diks sporting goods is right in front of the main entrance and in front of the road so thats where we should do it

Well as of yesterday mine is back on the road! 20 miles so far on the new engine. I will be there for sure and if it is a nice weather day I will probably be there early if others want to come out early. As far as eating goes there is an excellent local mexican place called Aztecca about 2 miles away. Also right there at the mall there is an "On the Border", Panera and of course the food court at the mall.

Directions - you can map this as the destination:

well im not sure who is taking control of this meet and scheduling everything but, i read in the first threaad to meet around 4 - 4:30. if some of you would like to get there a little earlier then i figure that would be fine. we should meet infront of the main entrance. i think the parking lot has valley parking in the very front. so out in front of dicks i think would work nice. i figure stay more toward the rear of the lot to a void causing any problems. i know cops and security there can be a pain. once everyone gets there and gets to look around and we can talk about deals gap and possible future meetings we should caravan to some where to eat. there we can continue talking and meeting everyone. i think the earlier we can meet the more availvable time and the more relaxed and smooth it will go. so here are some guide lines

if anyone has any suggestions let us know ASAP i think it would work nice like this

Your quickest way is comming through Shelby on 74 E and picking up I-85 in Gastonia. Trust me, I drive all over the state.

I plan to be there early as well, driving another RX-7 if it works out. I may get there between 2 & 3 for those that want to come early. I originally scheduled between 4 - 4:30 to give all of the "out-of-towners" time to get there before the meet fizziled. It looks as though the turn-out is going to be excellent.

As fas as for food, as Shawn mentioned, there are plenty of places to eat. To add to the list, Harris Grill has excellent food and it's not too expensive (it's not McDonald's either). Whatever the crowd decides is what we'll do.

As for the Go-Karts. That sounds like it would be a lot of fun and we can definitely do it, if everyone wants to. We should allow enough time for everyone to hang out and get to know each other, though. As for the discount, I'm about 99% positive we can get a pretty good one without a deposit if we have enough people.

The weather looks good too. Sunny and 61 for the high. Should be a nice day. I look forward to meeting some new faces and seeing some old ones.
