Need a shop near Atlanta GA or Birmingham Alabama.
Hello,
I have a 1993 RX7, I bought the car about a year ago from a credit union as a repo. The ECU had been taken out. I let the car sit for about a year before I messed with it. I finally got the car running and it smokes really bad and is leaking coolant. From what I have read or seen it seems like the car might have a bad water seal. Can anyone recommend a shop to look at the car for me or someone to rebuild the engine if it comes down to that, I could pull the engine myself. I just don't want the car sitting at a shop for 2 years, I've dealt with that in the past. Below is a mod list on the car. 13B TT - STAGE 3 CUSTOM BUILT ENGINE Streetport Intake & Exhaust AWR Aluminum Radiator Greddy Intercooler Stock Location Efini pip kit Greddy Piping Kit For SMIC (2-piece) Trust/Greddy Dual Filter Intake RSR 3rd Gen Rx-7 Sparkplugwires with Competition Sleeving Rebuild Stock Twin Turbos FD Secondary Fuel Injector Kit-1600cc Injectors, Fuel Rail, SX Fuel Pressure Regulator, High Flow Fuel Pump & Filter Light Weight Flywheel ACT HD Clutch & Clutch Line Kit Power FC - FD RX7 FC commander for power FC Radiator Fuel System Upgrade Intercooler, Piping kit Greddy Profec Boost Controller RP Competition Fuel Pump Racing beat Duel Exhaust TKT Lightpower Pulley Kit Black TKT Pillar Mount Boost Gauge Kit Computer Upgrade Exh 3 SS downpipe EXH 3 SS Res CTR section |
I would recommend calling Charlie at Mazcare in Marietta, GA. They have taken care of my RX7's for 20 years now. Been working on rotaries for forever and extremely good and knowledgeable.

+1 for Mazcare. They have done timely work for me, with good communication and without trying to up sale. |
Did you find a shop? There is a guy in Birmingham named Bob Abercrombie. He is an old school rotary mechanic. Kind of retired but has a shop in his back yard. Really good, very reasonable, and not in any kind of hurry. I can get you in touch with him. He has helped me a lot.

Bob Abercrombie 205-461-4345. Tell him that I gave you his number (Jason Bailey). He is a little difficult to deal with and he takes his time, but he knows his stuff. If you get her up and running, come up to Cars & Coffee on a Saturday morning at Hoover Tactical. A lot of car guys, but not many rotaries. Good luck.
