Need a reputable shop in GA
 

anyone know of a reputable shop in georgia that knows what they're doing to replace my apex seals? they haven't gone out yet, but i want to do some preventive maintenance before they do..

Well, the first step would be to state what you've got. It looks like an FD from your post history. That said, Mazcare has the best rep in Atlanta, but they'll swap in a Mazda new or reman but won't rebuild your engine. Do you know if it's rebuildable? Any idea if the housings are trashed or not? Tell us more about the car.

+1 for MazCare- great guys but just as Crit said, they don't do engine rebuilds...and yea+1 for more info!

Good to know. How much do they charge for an engine swap? Do they do any tuning?

sorry about that.. yes, it's an fd.. 57.7k miles atm.. the seals haven't gone yet, but i just wanted to keep up with replacing them before they do actually go and i have more damage done than would've had i just prevented it..

Any reason to suspect they are going? Mods? Running extra boost?

Yeah, is the car acting weird? Sound funny? Not run right? 57k is kinda short for an FD to go boom from what I've gathered from surfing the forum. I'm sure your aware that replacing the apex seals is kind of a big deal.

Unless your boosting over 12lbs., or you're heavily modded, you are not going to need to replace your apex seals for regular maintenance. Unless you race on a regular basis, this shouldn't even be on your list for regular maintenance. Who has been scaring you? :scared:

The 1st seals that are probably going to go are the water seals between the housings. And if well maintained and kept running cool, hopefully that won't be a problem until well over 100K miles. And then you won't have to do preventative maintenance on that, you will know when it starts sipping coolant, white smoke out the exhaust, and starts rough. AND STILL it will keep running, you just risk warping your housings then.

Are you a new FD owner? If so, keep reading and wait before you do anything serious to your engine like that. Get out and meet your fellow rotorheads to get a better clue.

Holly is dead on. If you are really nervous for some reason, you can always get a compression test done.
