Hey Guys,
I was wondering if anyone else was interested in going to the Street Drags on Friday, August 24th. It is the last race of the year and it would be cool to have another 7 their. I have had my SE/TII up their twice and was the the second fastet import both times. First time, I lost to the winning STI. Second time, lost to the winning K20/K24 CRX. I want to go up one last time with my Snow Performance water/meth kit and try to get a trophy. Anyone else interested in going?

 

What nite is it? I might be able to make it.. Hope to be in the high 6's if all together.

 

Friday the 24th. Just to warn you, this isn't a prepped drag strip. It is a 1/10th mile run down the straight of a banked oval. Line up at some cones, they turn the track light green, run to some cones set right at the beginning of the turn with a spotter calling winner(NO TIMES). The entire run is on a slight bank. Hot laps once race starts. Not to discourage you from coming, just to let you know what you know what your looking at. Cars with big power often don't do well. Two turbocharged race Mustangs brought in on trailers couldn't hook at all, and since its a slant, your rear starts to slide down the track if you spin much. A 65 Corvette convertible went nose first into the wall about 3 weeks ago because of too much spinning and overcorrecting. Like I said, I'd love to see ya their, but would hate for you to drive all that way thinking it is at a good, sticky strip like Huntsville.

I plan on going to Steele. I want to get some 1/4 mile times and it should be a great event to watch.

Thanks for your interest and Steele should be fun. Good luck getting the FD all together. Highs 6's in the 1/8 would be quite impressive. One of Hinson's LS1 Turbo FD's was testing at Huntville last time I was down their and he was running around 7 flat.

 

Come on guys, am I the only RX in Mid Tenn that wants to beat up on some Hondas at the track. If none of you are coming to this, are some of you at least planning on coming to Steele.

 

Well there is me, the first night the track opened this season i took the 7 up there. I beat two civics maxing out first gear and coasting to the end, it was great. I was having trouble shifting into second at that RPM, so i said screw it, coasted, and still beat them. They must have been embarassed. I'll try going up there if im not working. Just look for the red 2nd.

wish i wouldve met some of the 7 owners while i was up there...i was too busy with building and maintaining the black 06 sti that ran there last year...might come up there and visit soon.

 

Love to see ya there sometime backyard-junkie. I ran a white STI on my first night and lost by about a car. He won the import class that night. That run was before I had Drag Radials so his AWD gave him an advantage. Now with Drag Radials and Water/Meth injection, I think I could keep up with him, maybe even clip him.

What time does the racing start at beech bend? I am really curious to see how my 1/8 mile times convert to the 1/4 mile. So far I have run an 8.89 at 79mph in the 1/8, which should put me in the high 13's in the 1/4.

Is this the one at the fairgrounds? If so I have seen you race there and I raced there about 2 yrs back. I didnt realize how slanted the track was and when racing a s2000 in my 35r high compression car I came way down into his lane, but luckily I was way out front at that point. Fun times when the competition is good, too short of a track for high hp cars but the burnout contest is always good for a laugh.

 

Yeah. It is the track at the fairgrounds. Agreed on the issue with high horsepower cars. If you are running 13s or slower, its ok. Faster than that and you are asking for trouble.

 

The night I saw you up there you were whipping up on all the cars you raced. I tried explaining to my Nashville friends that the 7 cant lose.
