RotorSport's people are very friendly. Ordered my Racing Beat exhaust from them a year or so ago.

 

Phil, I'd LOVE to come to this...and I mean BADLY, but I just checked, and that's an exam weekend for me Man this stinks. I'm sure the event is gonna be kick-*** tho!

BTW...why don't you post something about this in the NE region forum? I'm sure some of the VA/MD guys would wanna come too...and maybe some real dedicated folk from further north, too!

Hey Josh I just checked the Fontana Village website to check out their accomodations and its a pretty nice place. That place was the mountain destination of choice back in the late 50s and thru the 60s, and it still looks very nice today: http://www.fontanavillage.com/index.html

I am going to do my best to be there it looks line the rooms ar $69/night, not including the event discount, whatever that ends up being.

I'm sorry if I offended you I just thought it was great that you were gonna take the FD up for the event. What did I say, Oh the barbie girl remark? What I meant by that is that you attract the most beautiful women and your back FD is so nice that your women oftern squeal and swoon over it when they see it. I wasn't specific and I apologize for that. Bring your girl friend along and you'll prove me right.

As far as the hotel I am just waiting for the go ahead on any kind of discount before I reserve a room.

Phil, I WISH. It's not about what day...that Monday I have an exam, so that whole week/weekend is shot. Not to mention Deal's Gap is like a 10 hour drive each way, so it's not something I can just drop by, ya know?

I'm pretty interested in going. If you reserve a room, get one with two beds and maybe we can split on it. I bet we could get Steve to throw in too, and I've mentioned it to Rick as well. Still, we'll have to wait until maybe March for all this to start coming together. It's just too early for me to know if I'm going to have some school obligation.

 

I'm glad you brought up the camera idea... I've built a ghetto-*** dashmount for my JVC digital. It's made of carboard, styrafoam, and duct tape, but it stays put through high G's. I destroyed a wheel bearing testing it

 

Oh you think your mount is ghetto i just used duct tape. It did not work to well in very hot weather.

 

Well i know ill be taking my digital SLR camera with me so Ill have some good shots to post somewhere.

Ray, sounds good. I will try to catch up with you and Rick at one of the meets. Several of the other members have shown some interest. If everyone goes, included you and Rick, I think we would have 5-6 people so far. It would be cool to caravan up there.

Anyhow, I'm not sure how many of you are interested.. but some of us here in AL are thinking about going up there this coming weekend to check out the area and such... If the weather is good.. Its going to be a quick one day trip.. most likely I'm going to bring my daily.

It is in the western part of NC, at the eastern part of TN. Better question would be how far from Chatanooga. You would run, or at least I would, hwy 64 out of Choo Choo to hwy 129 to hwy 143. I hope this answers your question.

My Seven is down right now because of a fuel leak and that spent wheel bearing so I won't make this weekend. Be advised, it's going to get cold again this weekend - it'll probably be close to freezing during the daytime in the mountains.

 

Yes Mike, You go through Murphy on hwy 129 IIRC.

 

Deals gap is just south of the Great Smoky Mtn. Ntl. Park. East of Knoxville yes, but it depends on where you are coming from to how you get there. For us it would be out of the way to go to Knoxville and then over to the gap.
