*** SOFLA RX CLUB *** NEWS, UPDATES, PLANS
We can use this thread to post any new updates, Plans, Ideas, Suggestions, Website content, etc etc etc.
I spoke to Jeff (Shirtmaker) yesterday May 12th and he said that the shirts have not come in yet... so he will call me as soon as they do... Its unfortunate that the first batch was botched by the embroiderer or else we would have had the shirts by now and not have to mess with it anymore... I am doing what i can to stay on top of things... I am again alone in this... I have been talking to a guy in Orlando that may work on the club website since no one out here in MIAMI has stepped up or even volunteered any input... let me correct that.. input is not enough... i need for you to get your hands in the Dough !!! I suppose that I am going to start appointing officers if they can .. that can get involved because honestly its too much for me to handle all by myself. Here are the names of the persons that I have approached for the positions: Alex - Directfreak Simon - Papsmagu Abel - Mazamazda Frank - Kandela Paul - Lucky7305 The website i would think would cost money to run... as well as other things... so I have spoken to other clubs and what they have set up to offset some of these costs. One.. there will be bylaws set up Two.. Rules of Conduct Three.Dues whether they will be monthly or semi annually or just one time payment I have set up three more clubs in Florida and they are CENFLA RX CLUB -Tony Marquez WESTFLA RX CLUB - Jose Rivera NORFLA RX CLUB - Jason Pappadopolous Its been talked over for some time about having one set due one time that would include the following: Annual Membership, Club T-Shirt, Keychain, Small Window Decal, Plasticized ID Card. - In addtion to the bi-weekly meets we would also have one meeting a month both in Dade and Broward Counties, - Every other month each member can have their own theme meet and that person can do the leg work and organize it. - We could also do a benefit run or event for a charity to raise funds for that specific charity - Have a tech class - Pick a day to have a Dyno test day - Go to Eldis car wash for discounts on detailing. - Go out to a restaurant some night all together as a group - Have our own Car Show - Softball games competing with other clubs in Florida. - Get discounts from select retailers on parts, accessories, and services - Have a raffle online for one member each month (Perhaps?) Some of these have been ideas that some people have voiced over time. Any more suggestions ,,, please feel free to voice them.... Val SOFLA RX CLUB |
hey val, what ever happened to the car you wanted to build? i belive sponsor for racing... i cant really remember all that clear now.
i think it would be an awesome idea to a have a drag, drift, or auto x/ road race car for the club. or at least get something together with a few folks to use their own cars for these events. just an idea as it stands, i auto x and drag my car so i guess i would step up to the plate every once and a while.....granted i dont own a 7 anymore but still. and that hasnt changed the fact that i can DRIVE one. |

Right now what i am concerned with is collecting the money for the pavilion... its $107.00 total but i need to know who is going and no one seems to be responding. Everyone has to chip in... I already put down $50.00 deposit... plus who is going to bring what. |
there are at least 25 of us going right? ok...so we all bring 5 bucks + some food. i'll start a thread.

hey Mr sarcastic......... I wrote that because everytime someone involve's money it all mess things up... PEOPLE take advantage of PEOPLE then act like there doing everthing possible FOR THE CLUB.... If this is supposed to be a club the way it is now is fine... you want PEOPLE to recruit.. PEOPLE have LIVES and JOBS!!!! making this club too big is problems.... I'm not down to pay any dues or making Money of PEOPLE by spreading a word around that someone is selling parts .. I thought this club was for PEOPLE who love Mazda RX-7 of all years....

You know Danny.. you are not alone when it comes to information... I pretty much cover all the bases either by email, threads or by phone and you know that... I was simply telling you to scroll up because it is what it is... like Prego.. It's in there.
Because you got burned in the past doesnt mean its going to happen again... you know damn well that I have worked diligently since the beginning... there is no argument there. I havent taken advantage of anyone here at all so i dont know where your head is at when you made that statement... I am here for the duration as I have been from the beginning. Up to now there have been costs and expenditures that you have not seen or even been aware of... people think that its just about having a meet... well no man... when there is something to be done its not just done out of home sitting in front of a puter... take the shirts for instance... I did the legwork on it... did you ? Did you even suggest a place where we can get the shirts made.... or even go to various embroiderers... well last time i checked i was getting about 9 MPG's and covered a lot of miles going to different shirtmakers or silk screeners... This forum that you are on right now cost money to operate... by way of banner ads and people like myself who actually made a monetary donation in order to assist in keeping this site operating. Well when WE ,,, keyword being WE .. have the site up... our own club site it takes money to make the world go 'round... Hosting a website will have a cost... When I ask people to recruit I am not asking to go knocking door to door... some of us dont have the luxury of driving a company vehicle and leaving the engine running wasting somebody else's Fuel. So all i ask is for in a persons spare time if you see a 7 or an 8 let them know that there is a club... or carry the flyers in your car.. you see a 7 or an 8 then put a flyer on their window or car door. What is so hard about that. With respect to selling parts... well i beg to differ on that motion... I have come in contact with people who have a need for this kind of service... If i know that someone is selling an item and I just happen to know someone who is interested in that item and as it has happened to be the case that i have gotten some email some time ago ... I simply put two people together... why not be compensated for that ? A guy in St Cloud have a vert for sale and he has been trying to sell it for some time... well i met a guy in Winter Haven that wanted a vert... I put two people together and Mark in Winter Haven now owns a '90 vert.. I just made $100.00 bucks on it... no big deal... two people were made happy... You say that if this is supposed to be a club the way it is now is fine... How can it be when there isnt enough participation and involvement... people are not pitching in like a club should be... just watch me when it comes to the meets... just observe and see how much i get involved before, during and after. Seems that people have a misconception between a get together and an "organized club"
People meeting twice a month at a location to talk shop is just a hangout. People getting together and having organized events like a BBQ, traveling to car shows as one unit , races,autocross and other such events is a Club. What Val is trying to do takes alot of planning,organizing,time and yes MONEY. Many years ago I was the president of a custom car club and the "DUES" that we collected helped pay for pavillion and food for BBQ's, hotel rooms for out of town shows, club shirts-hats not to mention the cost of the silkscreen setup and design. Unless you have previously tried to put together a club that is well organized and not just a group of people then the monetary issues are not understood. On the flip side, the tracking of the money put into the club MUST be monitored very closely by more than 1 officer as well as require more than 1 signature to remove any money from the club account. Club meetings should have substance to them(local events/shows/get togethers/news) as well as updates on the club account and future plans for the money(party/BBQ/travel/dyno day) etc etc........... To make this clear, I in no way am related or have been friends with anyone in this club prior to my attending and I am no way defending anyone BUT I do want to share with everyone how involved it is to get things going for a club to be successful. L8R Joe You have the right idea and understanding as to what I have been trying to convey. A hangout anyone can do and in a way its rather limited but some people just dont see it that way.. They must feel that there is no cost involved because all they simply do is get in their car...turn on the ignition and drive to the location. What about the background work.. what it took to get it there. When i first thought about having an actual club Damian had given me some advice on the hurdles to make it happen. So I approached several key persons for the following reasons. Simon, Alex, Paul, Frank, Daniel are all business owners and Abel is just a person that really gets involved. He shows up to the Hangouts way before anyone else does and when there is an announcement to be made he voices it without having someone else give him a Cue. I admire that about him. Simon I felt would be a good Treasurer officer in the club as he would manage the books and funds. Of course the bank account would be set up under the fictitious name of the club hence SOFLA RX CLUB and it would be registered with the state of Florida. There would also be full disclosure with its members so everything is legal as it should be. I remember you mentioning that you had a car club that you ran. I really would like for you to be a part of it as an officer... as I said previously... the list is a tentative list... I have approached Alex, Simon, Paul, Daniel, Frank and Abel... but it is really going to be dependent on how much time they can actually devote to the cause. I know Alex told me that it would be a bit rough for him because he keeps busy with his real estate business so there are some iffys there... I will have to have a talk with the persons that I have selected and see where they are and how committed they can be. So i really would appreciate your support and if you may be a person that I can consider for a position within the entity of the SOFLA RX CLUB. |

For ANY Kind of Dyno event - we need to keep Cartek Tuning at the top of the list. They are in Broward, right near University (Towers), and have always had great turnout, service, and prices with the MRCCFL and RX-Clubs. You are right that at times I can be very arrogant and many times I have sought to apologise to everyone for my attitude as I did at HMS Parade Lap. Had you been there that day you would have been one of many recipients of my public apology. I simply went by something you posted when you said " I wrote that because everytime someone involve's money it all mess things up... PEOPLE take advantage of PEOPLE then act like there doing everthing possible FOR THE CLUB" Perhaps this something that you experienced in the past having been involved in some other club.. that was the basis of the term burned. I reflected it that if someone makes a statement that it is personal testimony. Being a preacher or a minister doesnt necessarily disqualify me from making a living whichever way I see fit... legally of course.. Im not catholic where a catholic priest get his paycheck from the Archdiocese or the Vatican. Christian ministers have regular jobs but they also tend to a flock along with their pastor. I know of many Christian Pastors that keep a regular job. I met one working at a collection agency for Living Well Lady that is owned by Ruben who drove the White flamed RX7 convertible from the first meet we had last year at my shop. I simply said that when you have the luxury of driving around town all day then you have easier access to see some 7's or 8's where you can hand out flyers... Abel drives a school bus and when he gets the opportunity to inform out on the streets he does. Frank does the same thing when he is out working in the field. that is where i think you are missing my point. Pat myself on the back ? sure why not... you all know what I have done with respect to the meets and getting this off the ground. I know for a fact as it has been brought up before many here even the haters at one point or another have conveyed that I have done a great job to make these events happen. I know that you can relate to it. I make no secret that I have a RECORD... everyone knows that.. that is how i lead a transparent life... sure its not simple for me to get a job with my RECORD...its actually been that difficult... but you know what i gotta do then... try to make money how i see fit. Whatever business comes my way where it doesnt hurt anyone its fine. The hangouts and venues are there for everyone to enjoy not an open forum to vent out frustrations toward someone... so just save it because i am not going to hear what you feel you need to tell me as a man face to face.... I will just ignore whatever you have to say plain and simple for the benefit of others. The needs of the many weigh out the needs of the few. Think about it this way... Tweak and I have had some animosity towards each other...he vents out his comments on here as do I... but when he is at the hangouts or the meets we are not arguing or shouting at each other... why... I may not like Luis but I respect the fact that he doesnt do that as not to dampen the night for everyone else involved.... that is the rest of people. With that being said |

And if your not man enough to talk about it in front of people because you'll be ashamed or what ever reason... because it does have to do with the club and hear comments from ANYBODY ELSE WHO HAS TO SAY ANYTHING.. then step down as the so called leader/organizer and dont do anything else.... Im not catholic where a catholic priest get his paycheck from the Archdiocese or the Vatican. Christian ministers have regular jobs but they also tend to a flock along with their pastor. I know of many Christian Pastors that keep a regular job. I met one working at a collection agency for Living Well Lady that is owned by Ruben who drove the White flamed RX7 convertible from the first meet we had last year at my shop. I simply said that when you have the luxury of driving around town all day then you have easier access to see some 7's or 8's where you can hand out flyers... Abel drives a school bus and when he gets the opportunity to inform out on the streets he does. Frank does the same thing when he is out working in the field. that is where i think you are missing my point. Pat myself on the back ? sure why not... you all know what I have done with respect to the meets and getting this off the ground. I know for a fact as it has been brought up before many here even the haters at one point or another have conveyed that I have done a great job to make these events happen. I know that you can relate to it. I make no secret that I have a RECORD... everyone knows that.. that is how i lead a transparent life... sure its not simple for me to get a job with my RECORD...its actually been that difficult... but you know what i gotta do then... try to make money how i see fit. Whatever business comes my way where it doesnt hurt anyone its fine. The hangouts and venues are there for everyone to enjoy not an open forum to vent out frustrations toward someone... so just save it because i am not going to hear what you feel you need to tell me as a man face to face.... I will just ignore whatever you have to say plain and simple for the benefit of others. The needs of the many weigh out the needs of the few. Think about it this way... Tweak and I have had some animosity towards each other...he vents out his comments on here as do I... but when he is at the hangouts or the meets we are not arguing or shouting at each other... why... I may not like Luis but I respect the fact that he doesnt do that as not to dampen the night for everyone else involved.... that is the rest of people. With that being said |

I will try to set up a meeting for everyone to attend perhaps at that time you can have your say or use this forum to convey your thoughts....If it has to do with the club then it may be fine... as long as it pertains to the club.. but personal frustrations and opinions based on personal feelings about a person is not warranted. This is not the forum for it. Soon enough we will have a meeting place once the 1st bay at the daycare is constructed. I dont vent out my frustrations about anyone at the meets or hangouts and everyone knows that. The only message i do try to convey is that everyone should try to get more involved but i dont scrutinize anyone person deliberately It is not the place and time for it. You can very well post it on here as everyone else has also... when we have our own site then anyone would be welcomed to voice their opinions.. after all that is why it is called a forum. Should you try to vent it out at the hangout I will not recieve it and I will not listen. If I may reiterate one more time. The hangout is not the place for it. |
On a side note... I also have Ministry classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and Sunday is my Sabbath Day. That is why Abel gets there before I do and starts the Tangos hangout.

We will be having a meeting soon at the Daycare... where everyone will have the podium and be able to speak... each person should have a couple of minutes to voice their thoughts, grievances, opinions... Kind of like having a Town Meeting of sorts.

just talked to a guy named greg w/ an 88 n/a...VERY clean and all original minus the paint. stock motor w/ 200k miles on it. very cool guy...i emailed him the flier and hopefully he'll get back with me and come to the meet at oleta sunday. just figured i'd post this up.
