Samberg Performance Intro

As an introduction and to the people who don't know me I've been making LS swap parts and rear end conversion for FDs for almost a decade. When V-8 RX7 Forum was around I spend most of my time there. I don't know why I never came here first, I guess I felt I didn't need too. At one point that Forum closed down!... I remember being pretty worried about not having a place to sell my parts anymore! It wasn't too late after that, that Blake MF'ing McBride started "norotors.com" and we soon had a Forum again. There was a lot of good threads on that forum that never transferred over... O well..

When I first started making parts for Fd RX7's was back in 2007 I think. Actually I don't even know its been so long.. I started by make cobra cradles (Ford 8.8 rear end conversions) for both v-8 swapped FD's and Rotary powered cars. This was my first attempt ever at producing my own product. Before that I was helping people with ether a hotrod or race car build. This all started in my shop in Benicia, CA. I was only there for 3.5 years before I moved my shop to Pleasanton. By then I had a full LSX mounting kit with optional bolt-in 8.8 conversion and drive shaft. We also had a nice Radiator and intake combo at this point. I was there for almost 7 years. Im now in Pleasant Hill where I'm continuing to produce great products! There was about a 6 month Period where I didn't do any business nor did I think I was going to continue making automotive products. I know I left a few people out to dry during this period and if anyone feels I owe them something please feel free to PM me.

So I want everyone to know that I have mounting kits in stock. I do need a few days to assemble them once an order is placed. The photo below isn't current but you get the idea..

There are no longer any dealers re-selling our mounting kits. All Samberg Products are sold by us only.

I'm no longer making the bolt in 8.8 conversion as most people already know. I have a new version in the works!

The version 3 radiator kit is in stock. I no longer do group buys on these. I also do not include the fans anymore. They fit the SPAL 11" Paddle Blade High Performance Fan 12 Volt Puller

Part # 30102054 fan and also the SPAL 30102800 11'' Extreme Performance Fan 12V 1605 cfm Puller Curved Blades. It will include the surge tank and intake kit. You must use a 20 pound cap or higher with this system.

I've got headers and exhaust in the works. The headers are pretty much done, I'm just finalizing the collector set up. I'm not going to post any pix right now but I can tell you is that the right hand drive guys are also going to be equally happy!

It is nice to hear you are diving back in head first. I'm sure everyone here appreciates all the time you have put into the FD swap community over the past decade. Myself (aswell as others) were beginning to lose some faith in whether or not you were going to continue with the recent communication issues. Hope to see some awesome products coming out again!

The new 8.8 conversion sounds promising, let me know if you need a tester.

Also, I'm running your radiator (dewitts core version) and have been using a 18lbs cap, why is the 20 lbs needed?

Esser I'm here to stay!

I'll let you know when I get close on the 8.8.

As far as the rad cap goes, you only need to go to a 20 pound cap if the water boils over. You'll know if it does when all the fluid ends up in your over flow tank. I had a problem with this on a car with a built LS7 on a hot day.

I bought a 8' ft FARO ARM to do our measuring with. This has really sped things up as far as design goes!

Have you thought about making a 9" IRS setup for the FD?

The 9 inch" is a lot more money and a much less efficient rear end. You loose about 5% with a 9". If your not making 1500 hp or more its kinda of waste. I now use the explorer irs rear for the FD. There's almost an endless supply and there cheap. They also come with 3.73 gears and the bigger flange so you can run a 3.5" diameter drive shaft. We were using the Cobra/Thunderbird 8.8 when you could still find them easy in the wrecking yards.

I am planning on changing out my mounting kit here in the near future. I bought an already swapped car and the P.O. made his own kit. I had your stuff in my old car I built in 2010 and definitely prefer it to the home made stuff! I may wait and do the 8.8 kit and headers at the same time. Looking forward to seeing your new products.

Thanks
Fred

Is Samberg still shipping orders? Website is down. I'm shopping around for a new radiator setup and was interested in the Samberg front/top-mounted intake variant.

My understanding is Samberg got out of the Rx7 business. There is a decent amount of discussion on that at the v8 rx7 forums
