Ohlins DFV - Group Purchase 4.7.14 CLOSE

http://cdn1.bigcommerce.com/server52...g?t=1395482917

We have just finalized the details.... here's what we have so far:

Originally we had 15 total sets total allocated to us, however we have worked out a larger allocation of units until April 7th. Hopefully we can supply enough kits for this group purchase.

April 7th will be the end of the group buy, and payments will not be accepted after this date.

Current Stock We have 8 sets in physical inventory ready to go.
Future Stock Luckily we were able to allocate additional kits through the manufacturer for this lot, however as they are now in production for us. They will have a lead time of 6-8 weeks for production and sea shipping to the US. Kits will ship to customers immediately upon arrival.

All sets that are pre-paid during this group buy will be guaranteed GB pricing regardless of ship date. That said all orders are first come first serve, with the first 8 shipping at the close of the group buy, and additional units shipping in roughly 6-8 weeks (for additional kits currently in production for us).

Here's how the GB will work:

We have set up a product page to purchase a non-refundable GB spot for $100. This is your deposit. Each person will then receive a unique coupon code via email to be used at SakeBombGarage.com for $300 off of the current list pricing (essentially and additional $200 back from SBG off our current discounted price  ). Again this is a ONE TIME arrangement and we will NOT be able to offer this deal again with all likelihood.

As this is a group buy we need ALL ORDERS FINALIZED FOR SUBMISSION AT THE SAME TIME to submit the order. This means EVERYONE purchasing a kit will need to be paid IN FULL before April 7th so the order can be processed.

To place your deposit, please visit: www.SakeBombGarage.com/group

As a side note, we are able to offer suspension for other chassis as part of this deal as well. If you have friends interested please let them know as this is a one time shot and we pulled quite a few strings to get this lined up. These cars include:
RX8
NA/NB Miata
NC Miata
S2K
Mini
Evo

Thanks for your interest,
SBG :icon_tup:

If I buy one of the non-refundable positions, and later changed my mind. Would you mind if I sold that position to another rx7club member at $100 to avoid losing $$?

That's fine by us :icon_tup:  You're basically buying a coupon code to use for the sale on the website so in some sense it's a trade-able commodity :)

The Group Buy is now CLOSED, and thanks to everyone for a successful run

While the group buy is over we do have TWO sets of Ohlins allocated to us for the next pre-order. This is the end of inventory for the FD suspension kits for the next 3-4 months, so if you're interested and actually want a set of these on your car please PM or email us... after this I literally will have nothing to offer for quite a long time as far as Ohlins DFV's.

PM or email us ASAP... info@sakebombgarage.com

I wish they came with TÜV papers, then they would rock in Europe also :)

Down to one... Please email us. Thanks everyone :)

Here's an email we got this morning from one of the members of the last group buy that just finished his install. Thanks William, enjoy.

"Installed the Ohlins this weekend, drove car past couple days commuting to work.
Let me just say it's one of the best money well spent! Ride is very comfortable yet firm,
feels so planted to the road cornering, I'm actually having a lot of fun driving to work in
the FD!

William"

We are now accepting orders for our next allotment of FD3S Ohlins suspension kits coming in. Over half from this shipment/allotment for SBG are already pre-sold, but we have a handful of kits that are still not spoken for. Please email us (info@sakebombgarage.com) or find our July Group Buy thread in the GB 3rd Gen section.

We are also accepting orders for RX8, NA/NB, and NC Miata kits, and will be reviewing the NA kits shortly as we install a set on one of our shop cars.

Great suspension.

Is this more comfortable than a stock shock/spring setup? With how much stiffer it is (~300% stiffer), could I remove my sway bars? What's the minimum drop of the suspension?

No need to remove anything mate. Ohlins r one of the only suspension manufacturers to do real rnd testing on a bone stock fd for 6 months on different types of road surfaces and track. I've got these and on the ohlins recommended setup of 10 clicks the ride quality over imperfections is more comfy and refined than stock yet... In corners there is no excessive body roll; on my stock 99's it felt like a barge falling over. My stock 99 shocks and springs in comparison were more crashy and bumpy and would unsettle the car. However if ur between 4-5 clicks from full soft....the ride is a smoother than a citroen.

Also don't worry about the spring rates, I've found my fd is a lot easier to drive at the limit than it ever was on the stock 99's. I've found a lot less steering correction is needed and even if you hit a patch of uneven bumpy roads or rumble strips....it doesn't unsettle the fd like the stock 99's would. Hope that helps. :icon_tup:

Yeah, I get how good coilovers work. :) I'm used to AST 5200s, but AST doesn't seem to offer a dedicated model for the FD, so Ohlins should be almost as good.

Still, 3x spring rates does often mean one can remove sways and be good. Ride comfort is my primary concern, and removing sways helps with that.

You can remove your sway bars, but I'd strongly recommend against it. I wouldn't recommend decoupling your wheels from each other on a daily driver. If you don't care about your car cornering flat, sometimes people remove rear sways to increase grip for track use but if you want to experiment with removing the fronts, you're on your own ;)

man a fc kit would be awesome!

Haraise 04-22-15 02:46 AM

Edit: NM

ArmenMAxx 04-22-15 11:46 AM

Yes we are a swift dealer and can supply the shocks with whatever spring rate you want (+/-30% is acceptable without a revalve) however you'd have to pay for the additional springs (ie they can't be removed from the kit or discounted if you dont want/use the OEM Ohlins springs).

Could you make a new thread so people are not speculating that the new group buy is closed?
