International Shipping Prices

Hi :)
So i sent a version of this "complaint" to SakeBomb on email, but i thought i could air the issue here as well :)

First: I have purchased several items from SakeBomb previously, and i am 110% happy with your service and quality. Top class products. Your FD custom car cover keep my car safe from dirt in winter storage as we speak.
I would recommend you to anyone of my friends, so its safe to say I'm a happy customer!

Unfortunately, at some point since I ordered from you in the past, you have changed shipping service from USPS to FedEx. I don't know the specifics of this deal, but its a very bad one for me as an international customer.
I wanted to order the brake master cylinder brace, and that was fairly priced at your store, at only $100. I fill in the shipping information, and expect around $40 for shipping to Norway. To my surprise, FedEx wants $120 to get a small aluminum item from the US to Norway. So I go back to my archives and check, and find that the last item i ordered, passenger door handle and foot rest (larger and heavier), came in at $55 in shipping. But this was with USPS.
I then use the USPS online tool and estimate the item to be less than 4 pounds, resulting in a shipping price at $35.

So, please have a stern talk with FedEx about your deal, change shipping supplier for international orders, or at least let us have the option to select something else than FedEx. I want to support a bad-ass company that does R&D to our platform, but I don't want to be ripped off by overpriced FedEx shipping.

try using a shipping forwarder like Myus.com . I have the same issue when I ship to Qatar. Many US shops have deals with only one shipping company.
Building cars outside the US is not cheap. I usually spend 15-30% on shipping when I build my cars or customer cars.

If it makes you feel any better (or at least not alone) I even have to use a 3rd party to get items to Canada :banghead:

For whatever reason shipping out of the USA is crippling no matter where it is going to.......

Sometimes it doesn't hurt to give vendors a call when faced with situations like this, they might be able to help you out and ship USPS. Companies that rarely ship stuff internationally don't realize the huge disparity in costs between UPS / FedEX and UPS. Don't get me started on their customs brokerage fees....

Yeah, thats why I am sending them an email and posting here. They shipped through USPS the last time I purchased something from them, and that was reasonably priced.
If it was a set of $2500 Öhlins i would not be bothered by that price if it includes insurance and what not, but for a 1pound 10x10x2cm aluminium part its a bit steep :D

lots of companies use fedex and UPS simply because of their pickup convenience.

And for local shipments that would make total sense, if the difference in price is small. I would guess the majority of their customer base is in US?
I really don't mind if the package sits at their office for a week (or even two) before they get around to the "USPS international shipping day" and drive them all to USPS.

OFFICIAL NOTE TO ALL INTERNATIONAL BUYERS:

****Please Email us directly for an international quote. We can usually do much better on shipping vs what the website quotes. International is tough, we need to get an individual quote based on a few factors that the website doesn't take into account****

And the half priced international shipping goes to... instrument_guy! Haha! Exactly as he said, email email email! There are shipping strings we can pull for international shipments and check a few shippers for the best rate. :D

Cheers all you international FD guys! We ship 10-20 international shipments every week, and we appreciate your business all the way around the world!

Is there any update on how the case was resolved?

Talked to them on email and got a $40 shipping quote, and that was imo a reasonable price :D

I completely understand your frustration with the shipping cost hike after the switch from USPS to FedEx, especially for international customers like you.

Having options for different shipping carriers or perhaps revisiting their agreement with FedEx could make the shopping experience better for international customers.Your loyalty to SakeBomb is admirable, and it's essential for businesses to hear feedback from their valued customers like you. It's also great to see you exploring other shipping options like Ship Vehicles for different cars that I've tried recently. Here's hoping SakeBomb takes note of your feedback and considers making international shipping a smoother and more cost-effective experience.

The international shipping rates are not reliable, for international customers the best bet is to send us a message with the items you'd like to order and full mailing address, we can then get a manual shipping quote. We've never had luck getting international shipping quotes to work correctly. USPS is great, but tracking and delayed packages with lack of transparency for where the parcel is, frankly, has been an issue with a lot of customers where their package or tracking simply disappears for a couple weeks or longer. Getting feedback from USPS once transfered to another countrys postal system is damn near impossible. FedEx, cusomers don't like the pricing. International ordering is tough, so the best we can do is to get manual quotes on a case by case basis.

If you live internationally - PLEASE EMAIL US - info@sakebombgarage.com

Cheers!
