VIDEO:My lap of the Nurburgring in my RX7

By no means my fastest (was very conscious of crashing on camera so i went even slower than i normally would!)

I make it under 10 minutes which i don't think is too bad for my 4th lap :) Plenty of places i could have gone quicker; i was more filming just to remember the track rather than go for a fast one.

10 minutes quite good man i no another chap thats goin over soon in his supra and he wants to do it in under 10 mins as well. Any engine mods?
just goin for single turbo on mine right now.

BobfisH 10-11-06 05:07 AM

Its about 9:15 the lap - not too bad i don't think :)

No engine mods to my car no - at least none that make it go faster! spec is:

RB dual tip CB exhaust
relocated turbo control solenoids
Shyauto alloy race radiator
Black Diamond Predator fast track pads
rays alloys
K-sport coilover suspension

Thats the lot!

Next trip i should be sporting a big intercooler, PFC, downpipe and decat and about 290 rwhp :)

Nice run. What gauges are those? And did you bottom out going into those steeply banked turns?

KINETIK_FD3S 10-11-06 05:25 AM

cool vid.

BobfisH 10-11-06 05:36 AM

Those are defi gauges, the black faced ones that light up when you switch the car on. However my sensor pedestal sprang a leak so i had to remove it which rendered 2 of my 3 gauges useless.

Yes, i bottomed out quite a few times actually. Car needs raising a bit...its very low at the moment.

jammy_uv 10-11-06 05:40 AM

yeh i love those gauges but god dam pricey iv gone for the blitz blm series but theyv jus discontinued em.

I no a chap selling a front mount intercooler kit GREDDY at the mo for £530. BRAND NEW aswell he's got two im taking one hopefully in the next few days.

d1rx7 10-11-06 07:38 AM

very nice time. thanks for the vid

RE-Amemiya 10-11-06 07:56 AM

Thanks for the vid, don't think i've seen a video of an RX-7 around there before. I enjoyed it.

Still on my list of things to do before i die.

BobfisH 10-11-06 08:00 AM

pnoy1duh 10-11-06 08:15 AM

I'm stationed at Ramstein right now and I'm only 45 minutes away...too bad my seven is dead and at home....if you guys ever do a group thing I'd love to see it!

There's an article in this month's GRM from a reader who went over and rented a race-prepped BMW 325 to run the 'ring. If you're interested I can look up the name of the rental company. It appears the car was caged, etc. Maybe you can't run it in your 7 but I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to run it in something at least while you're there!

+1. That was a beautiful vid of an fd put to good use. I would love to have that opportunity. Not too shabby driving either, you were doing all the passing =). I'm green with envy now, GT4 just doesnt cut it after watching that vid. Thanks!

Herblenny 10-11-06 11:54 AM

Very NICE!!! One of these days I want to head over to Germany and run the Nurburgring.
But probably not in my FD (a rental :)).

rajeevx7 10-11-06 12:24 PM

Great download speed! You are sequential, with p/s? What size tires? Did ANYONE pass you:)

Caution: Vid not for the easily nauseous. Try a cam mount next time.

FritzFlynn, you've got to watch this!

I've only run fun laps on two occasions at Sebring, but it was no passing. Once I got stuck behind an NSX and the second time a 911.

Stanello 10-11-06 12:44 PM

Someday I'll drive that track.

I'll have to watch the vid at home later because I don't have sound on the work computer.

FDNewbie 10-11-06 12:57 PM

Bob, how much did it cost to get some time in at Nurburgring? And how early do you have to sign up, how do you sign up, etc? It's definitely on my plan of things to do w/ my FD (seriously) :D

~Ramy

PS: Check out Hans Stuck driving the BMW M3 GTR on Nurburgring, running a sub 8 min lap! http://videos.streetfire.net/categor...4800741991.htm

amp 10-11-06 01:24 PM

no helmet...

kevinvr6 10-11-06 02:21 PM

Gan San from BMI did Nurburgring in a S2000, top-down, no helmet :)

afterburn27 10-11-06 03:54 PM

Must be nice to live in a country without frivolous lawsuits and where people are responsible for their own health.

I'd still wear a helmet though! lol

BobfisH 10-11-06 03:56 PM

Ramy - you literally just turn up, put some money in a machine, get a ticket, put the ticket in another machine, a barrier raises and off you go. Its about $15 a lap i think (16 euros)

Past that, its just fuel to pay.#
No sign up times, no booking - just turn up on an open day. Check the nurburgring home page and it tells you when the track is open. You only really want to go between april and september. Any other time there is a chance of rain and between the end of oct and beginning of feb the whole place is covered in snow.

Hans nailed that course. That was an amazing ride..

FDNewbie 10-11-06 08:50 PM

Bob, thanks a ton. I'll make sure I give ya a head's up before I come (it'll probably be in about a year from now).

That would be one of my dreams come through. Very nice vid and good timing, Nurburgring is quite a tough track.
