So I'm thinking about painting my wheels black...

I was tinkering around in Paint and did this little quickie 5 minute edit of a pic of my FC with black wheels. What do you think?

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, looks good... KITT.
i dunno man. its not the color that's the problem... they're 3 spokes. Welcome to 1992, Tupac! |
^I know, I'm just trying to make them look a little better until I can actually get (afford) some new wheels.
Hmmm that red Nissan looks familiar...
^LOL, because its yours! I had no idea you still had an account on here.
if u paint them with a gloss black do it, i dont think the flat black will look as nice
^Yeah, I'm gonna go gloss black w/ clearcoat.
looks nice with the car. really need the gloss black, the flat would look bad.
Powdercoat them! I did...I will never spraypaint again. Cost me $130 total for all four wheels including a chemical strip to prep them.
^See, I don't have that kind of money to invest in wheels I won't be keeping on the car so I don't think I'll be powdercoating. Yours do look awesome though.

BTW, when the money rolls in and I have a TII swap pushing some decent power, I'll be getting a set of these...

I really didn't like my wheels when they were silver...I really DO like them now that they are black...the powdercoat was worth every penny to me.
I have painted a set of wheels (they were my track wheels when I had an M3) and it was a major pain in the ass. Probably cost me about $80 or so in paint supplies... I sanded them down, with varying grit, then primed them, laid down 3 coats of color and 3 coats of clear coat... I dried them in the oven of a Phoenix July summer day... then let them sit for a week. Put them on the car and they chipped almost immediately... They chipped from rocks on the track...and they chipped when tightening the lugs... The powdercoat was done in a week, cost me only about $50 more...but didn't sap probably 20-30 hours of my time and hassle, and the powdercoat is 100x more durable. They have yet to chip and these wheels have been on and off the car 10+ times. Like I said...it is worth the small extra expense...in my opinion...which is why I will never spray paint a wheel again. Unless you are just going to throw a coat of color on it and call it a day, but that wont look good to start and wont last much time before it chips, heck it will probably chip the first time you put them on the car. That is just my experience with it. I have tried it all ways...half assed just color, all out prep w/ paint, and powdercoat. With the prices my powdercoater charges there is no comparison in the value. Hence, I will never paint a wheel again. |
Black wheels are ghetto. Are you ghetto enough?
^I'm far from ghetto, lol. But the wheels just look... I don't know... they just look like they're assholes in silver. Not literally assholes like one shits from, like their attitude. I don't like it.
