Rotary Art I've been tinkering with

Hey all. In between builds coming through the shop I've been tinkering with making cool conversation pieces more so to help me explain to people how the engine actually works. I make them out of trashed 13b and 12a engines that have flow through here constantly. I might start selling them. Maybe code match housings to Generation specific paint with whatever accent color for the rotor the consumer wants. Thoughts ?

Thats cool.
Add a clock(s).

needs more creative

hmm ill do searching for clocks the same diameter of an eccentric shaft.

and i dont want to add too much. keep it simple and nice. suggestions are nice tho.

dream36realms 10-25-12 10:33 AM

i was gonna say add a cut section of the E-shaft. heck you could put a clock in there too. For my display come show season is a 12a detonated rotor hanging from rear bumper ;) lol

FCinWV 10-25-12 10:35 AM

hahaha ! awesome !

misterstyx69 10-26-12 01:23 AM

Make it into a fish tank.

FCinWV 10-26-12 10:08 AM

that is an awesome idea. ill have to come up with a design

Johnny_Cracker 11-17-12 03:06 PM

:icon_tup: Looks nice... Very few people i know have any knowledge of rotaries. Gettin' em, thinking a bit never hurt!

You mean like this one? Personally I prefer the raw metal colors
Couple of years ago I made a dozen or so of these for friends. These I painted the exterior surfaces various colors.

I've also made a couple trophies for local club meets.

I really like that. I guess the only thing I wanted to go with mine is the badges. Simply because of how unknown our cars and engines are to most people. I'm young (24). My house is nice but I still utilize ALOT of neon beer signs and tin signs. In other words.. bachelor pad. So Im going to fab up small discrete brackets to hold a light of some sort to spot light the housings. In between my 3 different builds ofcourse LOL.

Id like to see a small regular white light spotted on the raw metal setup you have. That would a pretty sweet conversation piece.

Keep up the good work Dave! And yes, the fish tank is pretty rad.

My idea that I see is the water level is down a bit so you can cut off the top of the plexi on the back piece so you can fit a net and feed the fish

silverfdturbo6port 12-03-12 08:46 PM

Something that I also wanna make.

Nik da Greek 12-04-12 03:46 AM

That's properly cool, that is. I was gonna ask what sort of rotor that was, those bathtubs are massively wide but flat, nothing like any Mazda ones I've seen... but it answers it's own question; it's a Norton motorbike one, isn't it? Clock is great though, reckon it might be tricky getting much sleep if that was your bedside clock

FCinWV 12-04-12 05:51 PM

Thats pretty crazy.
