Well i do try.
It was a good laugh my only real concern was getting it back home because where it happened was about 10mins out of town.
The readon why i went for this was because its a very easy conversion and the van is quite light.
the gearbox bolts up 2 a series one (1st gen) bellhousing so you dont have to modify the g/box crossmember and then wield in a engin crossmember, so in theory only the x/member,motor and wiring up an xtra coil is all you have to do for a conversion.
i have another short clip of it going up the road that i will post up.

Also is there a section for user's rides? where you post up pics of your ride?

Also check out www.rotahavik.co.nz its a newzealand site and there are heaps of mean rotaries and all sorts of different conversions in the section called users rides

Bought it with a blown 13 bridgeport, so i pulled motor out and got one from a rx7 gsl, its a tall port motor and with an ida it seams to hum along quite nicely, even has a slow deep pulse

anyways heres some pics

https://img233.imageshack.us/img233/7348/sd060289or.jpg
this is the old motor. 13b bridge port

heres the 13b tall port cleaned up to go back in.
but not before getting new 4 puck clutch, pressure plate, flywheel machined, new plugs and leads.

got new alternator pulley yesterday, looks all good, cant afford gilmers
https://img230.imageshack.us/img230/...rown0271kg.jpg

48 ida on high rise manifold with medium size k&n
mite be to tall for the van, will have to see

lupin 08-10-06 09:13 PM

how much power does that push with that intake setup
and do you have bigger injectors?
how much did it cost you?

rotor rod 08-10-06 11:01 PM

You cold dress it up like ambulance and do the Cannonball with that!!!!
We need more beer J.J.

MESDUP 08-10-06 11:54 PM

I would say around the 170hp mark, its not fuel injected just running a 48 mm weber carbeurator

so far around $6500NZ which works out at $4120US and need to spend another $3000NZ ($1900US) as i need new tyres a rev counter and all the other guages (it only has water temp, it dosnt even have a rev counter) also it need some panel work. but all in all im happy with it as its the fastest refridgerator i have ever driven

SayNoToPistons 08-11-06 12:26 AM

wow thats pretty damn cool! you can post in the "other rotaries" "general automotive" or "interior, exterior, audio" section too. cool van indeed. now turn that thing into one fast rotary sleeper. props for rotor van (ive always wanted to swap a rotary in a rwd gen1 MPV).

MESDUP 08-11-06 03:06 AM

you guys should check out rotahavik, theres probably more rotary conversions than actual original vehicles, whats an mpv look like??

dubulup 08-11-06 08:33 AM

LOL!! Cool car...I'd pimp it.

adictd2b00st 08-11-06 10:19 AM

Your engine looks like a nitrided R5. Don't worry, it's a good thing. :)

MESDUP 08-11-06 04:42 PM

tell me more, i dont know much about them other than its a tallport and the plates are R5

We dont get those kind of mpv's in newzealand, in fact i dont think we get any people mover type mazda's other than the bongo van, do you guys get b1600s/b2200s etc?

SayNoToPistons 08-11-06 05:24 PM

yeah we have the b-series which is based on the Ford Ranger.

hellisholds77 08-11-06 09:03 PM

dude, you are my hero, thats the sweetest shit ive ever seen

NeedFD 08-12-06 12:55 PM

holy shiat!

Jeff20B 08-12-06 01:22 PM

The nitrided R5 engines came out in the very early '80s and ran until probably '83, had points or electronic ignition, high volume 17.5mm oil pumps, no oil pressure sender under the filter, water temp sender on lower corner of front plate, all were automatic but posses the 1757 rotating assembly as all '74-'78 US spec and GSL-SE allowing for the use of stock flywheels from those years, the R5 castings are stonger (heavier) than 1st gen RX-7 Y castings and can most likely handle more boost if you chose to boost it, can be streetported as large as the Y plates and the exhaust ports can really be opened up.

Here are some pics and info on mine. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=405995
