Enjoy! http://www.indyhpmedia.com/vids/zinx...BrokenAxle.wmv did you know the axle broke before you lined up or did you go to take off and was like oh **** |
It happened during the launch, i heard it snap. It really didn't seem violent though.
|
Sweet car! Nice setup too!

I was in 2nd gear and its was really hard to just hold the throttle at a given RPM since those were new ET streets and I was in the water box.
Were you on stock axles when you broke that output shaft? |
No, chromoly racing axles. I have a set of stock FD axles for sale, if you're interested. Good condition, and very cheap. They came out of an automatic, but if I'm not mistaken they are identical to the 5-speed axles. They sure look the same.

Possibly but I would think it's not much strain at all if the tires are spinning freely. Also, I find it very hard to stay out of redline when I'm doing a burnie. It's much better to be approaching the redline and then letting off a bit than to be bouncing off the limiter and staying at a very high rpm. You just have to keep the tires spinning with the least strain possible.

one the smoke begins to blow the rest is all show and the tires are being wasted then.. the tire temps are hot enough and u cause unneeded stress on the axles by maintaining it..
at any cost nice burnout sorry to see the breakup |
Not according to Mickey Thompson. Direct from their website:
Note: ET Street™ tires may require a fairly hard burnout on the 1st and 2nd pass to break in. |
