Mazda RX-7 Spirit R: The Glory Days of Japanese Sports Cars
not often we get to see a spirit R in the flesh let alone in Left Hand drive

"somewhat challenged reliability issues" HA. Great video although I rolled my eyes at a few of the things he said. Wish someone from here who really knew rx7's and appreciated them could have driven the only LHD spirit-r.
I had no idea about the Japanese 276 horsepower pact.

so... looking at the video... it just looks like a US 94/95 car that was converted to have the Spirit R stuff... much like Supernaut did with his car... in the engine shot, the charge pipe into the IC doesn't look like the '99 style (aluminum instead of black plastic)...
and i guess they didn't want to make a one-off MPH Spirit-R gauge cluster either with the "6 o'clock" position for 0 rpm... and weren't the Spirit-R interior plastics grey instead of black? In the video they look black, but in the shots, they could actually be grey or it's just the lighting and shadows...
I do find it interesting that, for at least the Spirit R, Mazda moved the "RX-7" badge on the rear of the car to the left side (splitting up "rx-7" and "mazda")

Remember the spirit-r cluster is in KM only up to 180, which would not be compatible in the US, so they couldn't use that. And I really doubt mazda would've gone through the trouble of making just 1 single LHD version of the gray interior panels just for that guy.
Yea there were alot of details missing in the conversion. I was really excited to see the the car but when I finally did, I was left disappointed. The sunroof really killed it for me as well. I think the other thread had more details on what was left out. There were tons of simple little things they could have added to the car to make it a better replica.
it was a gentlemen's agreement (informal agreement). it wasn't called "the gentleman's agreement" and there were cars (like the mkiv supra) that had more than the 276hp, but they still were advertised as 276hp.
then honda broke it with the Acura RL if i remember correctly. (either that or an STI)
