Although it looks like the ignition sequence is wrong, isn't the ignition on the renesis the same as the normal FD ignition, and all the others. Trail, Lead, Trail (waste)?

i've been trying to look for a good animation to show my dad how this engine works
(cause im not too good at explaining things)

this is a good one to show him and maybe he'll have an idea.
is there a site that is mainly directed on showing how the rotary works..i had a link
of one that named all the parts and broke the engine down with a buttload of pictures
but i lost the damn thing!

To be technically correct the plugs don't fire at the same time. They sure look like they do but they really don't. If you ever get a chance to dig into EFI programming you'll come accross the highly debated subject of trail split.

Trail split is simply the number of degrees of crank rotation that separates the firing of the Leading and Trailing spark events. Some tuners have had success running a static ~8deg of timing accross all RPM and manifold pressure ranges while others like to run a more dynamic trail split pattern.

As for that delayed spark event you noticed in the exhaust stroke that's what is called a wasted spark. this event is multi-functioned. the wasted spark provides a little extra *oomph* for the exhaust gasses to scavenge while burning left over unburned hydrocarbons. In the FC this wasted spark is done at the same time as the trailing spark event. ever notice that the trailing coil in the FC is basically a single coil with two posts? now you know why.

Yeah, sounds about right. The leading plug fires a hair before the trailing plug.

the Renesis does not have wasted spark

the ignition system on the renesis is also very different than the ignition style of the FC. the ignition in that illustration is that of the FC.

i'm still so awestruck as to how rotarys work......been in love with rotary since i was 14...........and i'm surprised how little i know about it

it took me less time to understand how a rotary works than a normal engine...
