Wiring harnesses

What are the options for people that want to change out their engine harness? Is there any company that makes new wiring harnesses other than Mazda? How much are the OEM ones? I heard $1200-1500?

Price is about right. BUT i have heard that some of them are no longer availible.

A couple of years ago i found alot of the S4 harness connectors. I think a full set of connectors would be about $150-$200. I was going to (eventually) redo the FI injector/engine wires with Teflon coated wire.
So theoretically you can build your own for a few hundred bux.

p.s. I will finnally be ordering my s5 turbo ECU from you really soon.

Mazda still sells the harnesses: http://www.mazdatrix.com/86-92Electrical-Engine.htm they are listed here as between $700 and $800. You might be able to get them a little cheaper from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda.

Building your own harness isn't as easy as it sounds because you need shielded wire for certain sensors. It's one of the reasons why standalones with their own harnesses tend to have a lot of electrical noise problems, besides the fact that the stock ECU has better filtering than aftermarket units.

They also offer the ability to have some more passthru wires for adding things like a wideband and what not.
