You will need:
- a USB-to-serial port adapter (recent laptop) or a physical serial port (old laptop) - a null modem cable (or adapter) for connecting the laptop to the RTek - this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/rtek-forum-1...esktop-911906/ - this link: Configuring the Palm OS Emulator to use HotSync Technote: Archived Products, Mobile Enterprise, Database Management - Sybase Inc - the emulator itself (a couple of different ones available) - the ROM file for the PDA and OS you wish to emulate I can provide you with the latter two items. I have "Palm OS Emulator" aka Copilot, and use a ROM for PalmOS 4.0 on a Palm m505. Even better -- I have a profile (.psf) saved with RX7Logger already loaded. Despite this, I use the emulator only as a last resort (i.e. both of my physical Palms take a dump). IMHO, the emulator is a pita for these reasons: a. initial setup can be a little complicated b. you still need to use Palm Desktop & Hotsync to upload / download files (i.e. install RX7Logger and get log files off). With a physical PDA, you can use PInstall and an SD card. c. Remember to save the profile (otherwise all those nice log files go bye bye) d. you are still limited by the PDA interface. When tuning, you can't just click / arrow into a map cell and type in the value. You have to click the little up/down controls in the interface, just like with a physical PDA. So, I stay away from the emulator due to its overall pain-in-the-assness. I recommend purchasing a used PDA and a new battery FTTB. But this is just MHO. Try the emulator at your own peril.:evilgrin::evilgrin: |

Im having an issue setting this up, i have an usb to serial adapter and it comes up in device manager under my com ports, im using Palm Os Emulator and Palm OS 4.1 en m505, i connect everything and i have my com port set in the emulator software and turn my key to the on position and nothing happens, should i just get a laptop that has native serial? or am i using the wrong emulator.
Thanks, Mike |

i cant see why, as long as you have the com port set correctly in the palm. but the ugreen cable i got was only 12, and its nice to have new laptop speed.

Is anyone able to upload the files for palm OS Simulator, i cannot download them from the palm site anymore as it is shutdown.
Thanks! |
Emulator & ROM
3 Attachment(s)
Palm OS 4.0 Emulator & ROM file for Palm Pilot m505.
|
SD Card Emulator
2 Attachment(s)
HostFS will allow you to browse the contents of the local directory as if it were an SD card "inserted" into the emulated Palm.
|
Session Files
1 Attachment(s)
Saved states (.psf files) that contain a preconfigured Palm m505 with RX7Logger and a couple other apps, plus sample map and log files. It might save you the trouble of configuring the emulator (but no guarantees.....).
|
Alternative Emulator
4 Attachment(s)
PalmSim, an alternative emulator that I have never used and know nothing about. The contents of the zip files should go into the same directory (max attachment size is 5 MB on this forum currently).
