Size of Rtec 2.0

Hey guys, just wondering if the rtec 2.0 is installed inside the ECU housing or outside. The website says it's a daughterboard, but doesn't state where it's placed. The reason is because we plan on campaining an S5 NA, and our class rules limit ECU mods to only within the original ECU housing. We can't splice the harness, or add a piggyback of any sort, so only chips or things like that can be used. I like the specs of the RTEK 2.0, as it will allow us to change a variety of things as the car progresses. thanks, any help will be appreciated.

it is internal...when you get your ecu back it will look exactly the same escept for a serial cable coming out of it for hooking up a pda...it will mount back in the factory location.

Right now the S4NA has a data connection cable coming out of the side of the chassis. Other than that, it's completely enclosed in the stock ECU chassis. I think the cable coming out would violate the rule, though.

Making them legal for use in racing classes such as the one you describe is something we will be doing.

On a side note..
The S5NA beta tester just sent us a report from the dyno with positive results as well as a few suggestions that would make it even better.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm guessing the data cable for the pda can't be placed inside the housing, or made to be detachable somehow. Maybe the latter can be an option, but it might get turned down at inspection depending on what they say. Maybe another alternative could be bluetooth connection? Or paired RF connection with a card for the Palm? I'm sure you guys have thought of some this stuff before, and shot some of these ideas down due to cost, but I'm still very glad that you are putting forth effort and trying to make things better.
We've been looking closely at the Megasquirt since it could fit inside the ECU housing and be ran through the factory wiring harness, but it quickly fell out of favor since it can only use a MAP signal.

turbo2ltr, when can we expect to see the RTEK for the S5 NA available? Depending on the if it's legal for our class, I may very well be one of the first to buy it. Once again, thanks for the help!

I assumed a detachable cable would pass. Either way, the issue will be addressed. Our beta tester is heavily involved in ITS so it's definitely a concern.

RF is an option (bluetooth), though having an antenna inside a metal grounded box is not exactly ideal.

As for the ETA, right now we are just saying Q2. It's close. The S4NA is even closer. Expect the S5NA to be released soon after the S4NA.
