Retuning the fuel maps after rewiring the fuel pump - how much fuel to pull?
So I rewired my fuel pump and now the AFRs are in the 11.5 range and the cars stinks like gas badly. I am going to slowly start pulling fuel out around idle but wanted some general help so I don't over do it or make it harder for myself.
I was originally thinking about trimming fuel from the vacuum range under 1500 rpms but not sure exactly. And what is a realistic amount of correction to get the AFRs back up to a normal range, and what AFR should I shoot for at idle? Thanks very much! |
Anybody run a rewired fuel pump with the Rtek?
Is it easier to just use the variable resistor function or should I be tuning the fuel tables? |
sounds like your fuel pressure regulator is being overrun. i usually shoot for 12.5 to 13.0 AFR at idle

I just installed my 2.1 this past weekend and I have a rewired walbro 255 and I'm getting 11.5 AFR at idle as well...did you get this figured it?
|
As mentioned get an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator that can keep pressure correct at the higher flow rates.
Don't go tuning the afrs to match fuel pressure creep. |
Ah, thank you. I didn't see where it was recommended to get a new FPR.

Also, I rewired my pump 8 months ago and my AFRs were in the 13s at idle. I just installed the rtek and 720 secondaries this weekend. Now 11.5

Did you setup the injector settings to 550x720?
|
Yes I did

Did you go through the idle setup procedure where you can adjust the 'var-res'?
