Hesitation/lean above 3000 RPM under mild load. I did search

Hey Guys,

My car is an original 91' Turbo 84K miles on it.

I have an Rtek 1.7(2007 or early 2008 build) on the car that the PO bought when the OMP went bad. He never installed 720CC secondaries, so I went through and replaced all the Vac lines, Intake manifold gaskets, fuel lines, Removed the rats nest and installed some cleaned and tested high impedance Bosch 720CC secondaries. The primaries are still the stock 500's with new insulators and o-rings.

I'm running an fuel pump, But it is not re-wired.

What I'm getting now is Heistation starting 3000 RPM when I'm cruising and I start to get on the gas. It leans out, so I let off. If I accelerate very slowly, it's okay. It's only when I'm curising in gear, and then start to get on it harder.

If I go WOT from a stop and go through the gears, I get no hesitation and AFR's are good. If I downshift, and get above 4K RPM it does not lean out and accelerates fine.

I've searched, but didn't find any scenario that was the same as mine. Just a bunch of S4 guys and it ended up being an issue with the Rtek.

Thanks in advance. I'll keep on top of this to answer any questions I can.

Check for smooth operation and signal from the TPS.

Will Do, I'll have the car back this weekend.

Thank you!

Just curious Molotovman, I'm having a similar issue with a S4 TII w/ a rtek 2.1 and I was wondering if your TB had the TB mod (secondary butterflies removed) done to it?

No TB mod, I kept the Thermowax and BAC valve.

I finally got around to checking the TPS and I also drove the car at night.

I warmed up the engine, then tested the TPS.
Both Narrow Range tests read fine, However Full range closed did not. Full Range closed read 1.8 Ohms, Which is double the maximum acceptable value.
Full range, full throttle did read fine though.

Turbo2ltr, would that cause the heasitation/lean out?

When I was driving at night I did notice the CEL flashes when the leaning/hesitation happens.
No stored codes though.

I'd say 90% of drivability issues I've seen seem to stem from TPS issues.

That's what I was thinking. It seems like it's getting a little better with the more miles I've put on the car, or I'm learning to drive around it.

I'm just going to call it the TPS and see if I can get a good one sometime in the future.
Thanks for your help!
