Palm OS Emulator - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com

You can download the Palm OS Emulator(pose) from there, the problem is youre going to need to find a palm firmware .bin file to load into the emulator. That I dont believe I can legally link you to. I run pose from inside a WinXP virtual machine(vm) on my Win7x64 laptop and pass the serial port to my VM, because i could get POSE to talk to the VM since it was old winxp.

that image is for DB25s.

The Rtek only uses pins 2,3, and 5 on the DB9 so to make a null modem, you just have to swap pins 2 and 3. Radio shack has db9 null modem adapters.

Also keep in mind you cannot save maps or datalogs when running on the laptop. So I don't think anyone would want to use this as the only way to access the Rtek.

5 years later i re-read some of this, and now get what you are saying, on my next rtek, instead of buying a cable, just take the end of the cable apart and swap 2 and 3...

i havent used a pda in years thanks to this.. tuning again right now..

Hello from Italy, i have a little question and problem, and maybe someone with better expertise then me may guide me on the following problem.

on the car: I did swap the ecu with an rtek 2.1 v 1.2.1 al the dummy lights etc function.

on the laptop: I run windows 10

1) downloaded the pose Palm OS Emulator, and started it
2) loaded the m130 rom into it
3) with install application database installed the rtek RX7 Logger 2.1.3 Build 5
3) attached a serial to usb connector to my laptop
4) attached a null modem cable (db9f to db9f) to the serial to usb connector
5) attached the null modem cable
6) in windows under device manager i checked the com number of the serial to usb connector
7) in pose under settings > properties i selected the corresponding com port number
8) turned the ignition on (tried setting I and II)
9) on the pose i get X not connected

Can anyone guide me why its not working please, did I miss a step?
Thanks in advance

attached a serial to usb connector to my laptop
< does not work. have to have NATIVE rs 232. (db9, serial)
wish it wasn't that way but it is..

Mad_Al 03-30-16 07:38 PM

Thanks a ton for your answer!
Wonder if it is possible to simulate the rs 232 but I will leave this question to future generations.
Going to look for an old laptop or either try to work a usb to rs232 converter or buy an rs 232 adapter card if i can find one!

Going to try this amazon product:
Startech.Com 1 Port Native ExpressCard RS232 Serial Adapter Card with 16950 UART

Will keep you updated if it works!

I think its more about windows 10 than the com port. It should work with a serial usb...but a serial usb on win10 is another story.

wait what??
i have a win7 machine that i cannot get to connect.. two different prolific cables, one brand new.. can you point us to one that works so i can get rid of this old laptop?

Mad_Al 04-01-16 06:51 PM

Managed to scavange an old laptop with windows xp.
Both the usb to serial and the serial pcie card worked.
Might be a problem with later versions of Windows

lastphaseofthis 04-02-16 04:46 PM

can you say what model/ brand usb to serial it was

Mad_Al 04-04-16 08:56 AM
