Does anyone else have a s4 rtek 2.1 with no rev limit?

So I just hit 8710 according to my apexi acvr which is connected to the trailing coil wire for rpm at the ecu. Isnt there suppose to be a rev limiter to hit rather than revving to the moon and beyond lol.

The Rtek 2.1 doesn't have a rev limiter.

None of the Rteks remove the rev limiter. The s5 stage 2 has an optional higher limit but they are not removed.

That being said, many people say they don't hit the limiter, but it's more likely due to an inaccurate tach than anything else.

Mine Rev'd till it blew also. Not a Fan of these ECUs.

My rev limiter only works in neutral, if I am in gear I can keep revving and revving. Has not blown up yet but I am careful, I am on the stock ecu too, N332 S4 TII

Tonight I was trying the two step system out I rigged up and I accidentally disengaged it while my foot was floored. My car rev to 9100 per the reading on the boost controller and at that moment I went blank and my foot popped off the clutch....... I really need to find a way to put a rev limiter on here before something breaks.

Sounds like it blew from not being built to handle the rev's you were running.
like turb2ltr said, it's the stock rev limiter, which i have never be able to hit... except when i tried to blow an engine.... and it's certainly doesn't bounce like a honda would. it's more like it maxxs out at around 9k and stays there.

you know alot of people complain b/c the rev limiter gets in the way. ultimately isn't it your responce ability to shift/let off. and if you need it for drifting(buckey) maybe you should spend the extra cash for your purpose and get a soft touch rev limiter. i understand not wanting to lift the throttle during a slide.

Today I fixed my issue and just added my own rev limiter. No more 9k lol

just a dumb question, and its just out of pure curiousity,
but could one adjust the timing of the rtek sooo retarded at [X]rpm that it would rev limit?

im just curious, dont think id try it either way lol dont need it
even racing the SHIT out of my car, ive only bounced of 8.5 a couple times for only 1-2sec
.. would be kind of interesting to find out tho

Sounds like you could do that pretty easy, but how much retard is unknown to me, but i do know the wrong amount will likely destroy the engine. add in the fact you'll be at high RPM/inertia... unforchantily, you could try it out in the 3500 rpm range, but then you'd always have a rev limiter at 3500, until you undo the changes.

R.O.D 05-16-11 08:18 AM

ya, thats my worry. i wont be trying it myself, but its a cool thought.
also, having some sort of built-in 2step at [X]RPM with some switch controller, doesnt seem
like itd be too hard for the DEVS to write in, but then again, easy for me to say

wish i just had money to test a bunch of the ideas floating around in the RTEK section...
