cant drive the car without it going lean?
 
i have richend up the fuel and check everything out. i havnt taken a look at the fuel pump sock to see if its clogged but it was fine before i put my motor back in. any one have ideas or base maps to share for a s4 turbo streetport 720/1000 no emissions?

Start out with the 550/720 injector setting. Port work seems to really change the airflow characteristics that don't play well with the stock fueling curve.

Since the motor is fresh, it could be 100 different things.

How lean, at what RPM, what throttle?

well light throttle maybe 1/5-1/4
yes 2-3k range
and i have a narrow band af gauge thats reads off the chart for lean

i should try 550/720's while running 720/1000's

wait never mind i tried that and it wouldnt start, i remeber that yesterday i tried that after reseting the ecu. and i even richend it up there to

You may need to pull the first cell quite a bit lean to get it to start.

i got it to start and i drove it around alittle and it still goes lean here and there. it seem to do good at the -5-0 in hg on boost gauge but between 15-7 in hg its doggy. i have a log but dont know how to get it on the computer?

or the more gas you give the better,its bad at 2k-3k though
but i cant go past 4-4.5k for the break in though

the altitude wouldnt play this much factor would it ? and do i have to use the atp? or what exactly does it mean? im reading the book now but doesnt really say when not to use it or when to use?

another thing do i need to run the factory air/fuel mixture thing by the boost sensor?

sounds very similar to a problem a bunch of us are having.. leaning out around ~2500rpm, cruising at high vacuum. seems to go away under higher loads. check these threads, does it sound like your problem?

ya thats pretty much me. i can give it gas and drive fine at 1/3 throttle but it just runs rough through out the rpms. i have a video on streetfire now of it running, ill post the link in a bit. im just not sure if the motor is just supposed to be like that during break in or what. this sucks since i have never had a tuning device like this nor have i ever had expirience with a rebuilt streetport motor... im a noob and feel helpless right now. i know about all this stuff and can fix everything wrong with all my friends car but when it comes to mine its like im gun shy to do anything without asking a million questions.

so gxl90rx7 did you figure yours out? this might sound stupid but if im running the 550/720 program and have 720/1000 does it make it run richer or leaner??

richer or leaner than what?

If you have 550/1000 injectors and you run 550/720 preselect, it will run leaner than if you are running the 550/550 preselect (stock).

But overall, even with the 550/720 preset, you will running richer than if you were running 550/720 injectors.

nope.. im still having the problems

im running 750cc & 1000cc injectors on the 720/720 preset. I have about 5% added low rpm and about 10-15% fuel added up top. that is roughly tuned using a wideband

you have to take into account "720 cc" injectors may not flow 720 cc's if you are still running stock fuel pressure. I believe most injector rates are spec'd at 45 psi fuel pressure

i dont have a fuel pressure regulator.. yet and i need a wideband.
i need to know how to get my saved logs on to my pc so i can show yall everything.
it is doin alright as long as i have foot on the gas.
i need timing maps to compare too. since mine shows almost the same timing for both leading and trailing.

1: You've already said you've never had a tuning device. With that said, you really should not be touching the timing yet at all. If you've messed with it, I suggest you reset the ECU to factory defaults. (look it up in the manual if you don't know how)

After the reset, you should go through the initial startup procedure again as described in the manual like you did the first time you plugged it in (right?).

2: Playing with fueling on a new rebuild without a wideband is asking for a lot of trouble. I *HIGHLY* suggest before you do anything more, you get a wideband. Or you may be getting a new rebuild sooner than you planned.

3: I already mentioned in the other thread where to find information about downloading the logs to your PC. (Read the FAQ)

DONT tune with a narrow band.. they are only intended to act like a switch, above or below 14.7. any AFR up to 14.5 or so will show as "rich"

ok just for the record when i say tune i mean i monitored whats going on and took notes not actually changing anything. i dont know what to change yet so why would i .
but as far as the 2-3k prob. could it be the tps?

it does seem exactly like a tps problem, yet my tps sweeps perfectly, no spikes or anything..

I actually just got another tps to try from a friend, but my TII is down due to the turbo being upgraded. Ill post teh results as soon as i get it up and running again
