Will 60 footers have effect on MPH?
Just curious as I have not paid enough attention to this. I traped right at 100mph tonight but only cut a 8.0 with a 2.3 60 footer. On et streets. Good burn out, 20psi in tires, dumped it at 6-7k and spun bad.
|
mph will usually stay about the same... it might go up a hair.
|
ok, as long as it does'nt drop. I need to trap over 100 to get my goal..

That's a really bad 60ft for ET streets. Why were they spinning like that? Are those an old set of tires? Any vids of the passes? I'm just curious because I have friends that don't do a burnout and still cut in the 1.7-1.9 area.
Anthony I looked at my logs from tonight and on that pass I left at 7300rpms. So either the tires were not hot enough or 20psi in them was too much?? Either way I just need some more seat time and I will get them down to the 1.5-1.6's.. Any sugestions are welcome! |
oh.. brand new tires. The very first passes tonight.. I just suck!
|
I think thats too much air, i don't run any more than 15 and usually end up dropping to 13 by the end of the night.
|
Im agree with zinx i never go up to 20 psi unless the track is hooking to good ive run 1.52 at 15 psi at 7800 launch.
Do it over till you get it right! :icon_tup: |
I hope to be back this weekend if I am not out of town.. I will try 15 psi. I am not afraid to break the rear end so no holding back! But I did expect to trap a tad higher?
|
100 MPH through the 1/8th is pretty decent. Definitely good for a 10 sec pass with a good 60', need to chop about a second off that ET though.
|
I also have to get my boost under better control. Creep on every pull. I may just go with a 20 psi spring.
|
when you blow the tires away, you're mph will generally be higher.......
20 psi on ET streets is what I keep in the tires for the drive to the track.......... I then drop them to 10-12 psi. I've tried 8 psi before, that was a wild ride on the big end....... |
I went to the track for midnight drags sat with the street tires and with a blistering 2.04 60 ft i ran 7.81 in the 1/8 but 11.67 1/4 at 124.97 mph. On the et's i run 7.0 1/8 at about 100 mph. I was suprised at the trap speed on the street tires it was almost as fast as my 10.8 runs!:Wconfused Oh the clutch is fading fast i wish i had $1600 for a twin disc!!

SO how does the 60 foot change the 1/4 et? I know it is about equal in the 1/8th to shave whatever comes of the 60 comes off the 1/8 et...?? Same in 1/4?

Very good interesting thread. I suck at driving so it seems I can not get any better than a 2.0 60' in an Rx-7. My typical launch is 15 psi in old ET streets, but only 5-6000 rpm. At 15 psi boost and 400 rwhp, I've gone 8.0 @ 93 / 11.5 @ 124. I'm hoping that when I slightly improve the short time (maybe a higher rpm launch?), I'll be deep in the 7s / 10s.

how are you guys having such problems i cut a 1.97 on some all season pzero's @ 32 psi on stock wheels 225/50/16

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...50303_4938.jpg Just kidding, you are probley slipping the clutch and getting a pretty good time. But when your running a higher h/p single turbo with out a twin disc slipping the clutch heats the clutch and causes slipping!:icon_no2: |

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...50303_4938.jpg Again, a 1.8 and above is the norm for a good driver on street radials (not drag radials). I used to slip the clutch and pull these pretty regular. Now I am trying to dump the clutch (no slipping) at 7500rpm with 200 more whp..take some pratice.. Reason a ran a 2.36 was from the amount of wheels spin I had. Seems a 1.4-1.5 is good with ET streets. I thought is was pretty decent time for the worst 60 foot time ever posted on the internet! LOL |

What suspension are you running? |
haha yeah, i dont worry about reaction times. I go when im good and ready :) stock base suspension with broken diff bushings and clunky pillowballs
actually on track with the thread, I have noticed that when i got a horrible launch (wheel hop) i would trap a little higher 85ish i guess because i spend more time on the track? so from what ive seen there is a little difference. |

That 2.7 in the right lane from that time slip has you beat.
What suspension are you running? I am running JIC coilovers. Pretty damn stiff too. Not a drag set up at all. killer on the round track! All I did for the last day was soften up the rear damping and stiffen the front. I was thinking of lowering the height in back and softening up the preload as much as I can. Think I have to go out of town this weekend so it will be the following before I can run again. I think tire presure is going to make a big differance as I just check them and they are at 22psi! So I imagine once I heated them up at the track they were close to 24psi! |
Aren't you supposed to stiffen up the rear and soften the front for a drag lauch??
|
Trial and error what works for one may not work for another! There are alot of varabiles!
Thats why racers rent tracks for testing and tunning chassis. |
