Supra transmission

Hi guys. Have you guys herd or seen someone using the r154 supra transmission on the rx7fd with the 13brew?? There's a friend of mine thinking on doing that since the r154 is a forged tranny and is close to the stock tranny size wise and very similar in gears. Well so he says... What u guys think?? He is braking a lot of tranny right now. He have a 600hp fd.

I have seen this done using the following adapter:

Billet CNC Rotary to Supra R154 Bellhousing Adaptor 13B 20B Series 4 S5 Turbo | eBay

Of course you will need to have clutch plates which are correctly splined for the new Toyota input shaft. Its also worthwhile upgrading the shifter forks and other parts in the R154 for aftermarket parts from Marlin Crawler. Price is very fair and these parts are proven on Supra's that would otherwise break this transmission.

I have been considering this swap for some time. It will be appropriate considering my Toyota 8" rear. As soon as I find a fairly priced R154 I will give it a shot. My only concern is the shifter feel and ability to shift at an RPM higher than it would have been subject to on the original application.

I have found a couple of R154s in Montreal where I am located but people are generally asking around $1500 for them which I find is absurd.

Don't do this before looking at alternate options like the T56 and weighing the pros and cons.

Hi this Starlet is a rotary using the R-154 tranny, they work but you need to upgrade the shifter forks.
