rx7 1/4 mile records...

hi,

I saw a thread the other day that claimed that the record for an IRS rx7 is only 8.89

I remember when Adam ran an 8.90 and 8.95 in Palmdale, it was the last time I saw him running the rx7. I figured that someone had run much deeper into the 8's in the last 5 years...

I was wanting to confirm that the current record is 8.89 also I was wondering if anyone knew what the fastest "street" rx7 is. I know that none of the really fast rx7's out there are true street drivers. Generally the term is used for a car with a factory trans, rear end and some form of interior and exhaust system.

Lee from San Antonio invited me to a local domestic shootout this weekend. San Antonio has an awesome track, so... If nothing breaks, I was hoping to try to hit a number with the old girl...

It is a shame my 3 isn't ready, we could line them up and put on one hell of a show. They usually prep the track VERY well for the clash of the titans so that shouldn't be a problem at all. I look forward to seeing you run.

I think Scorch in Japan are down to 8.7 on the IRS and clutchless transmission.

I would expect that someone picked up some ET since '02... It's too bad that we don't hear more about the performance figures from Japan, I understand that they are really big on drag radial racing.

Thanks Chris, how have you been?? I think the last time I saw you was in Gainsville in '02...

Time really flies... I must be having fun! Best of luck to you too, I hope to make a few events this year, hopefully we'll see each other.

I don't think that there are any set rules. IDRC, nopi and nhra all have different rules. I think that in general as long as it burns gas (not alcohol) and has a factory rear and trans with a little interior and some exhaust system, it's considered a "street" car.

I've been wondering why no one has come out with a monster 20B yet...

This second gen been running 8.60's in PR as of late. I don't believe it's still on the IRS though going by the other pics I've seen of the car launching from the line. The rear suspension has a lot of anti-sqat behavior which would normally indicate it's not IRS. Still good times for a car that is still full body and small tire.

Unfortunately not, my dad was into mopars:icon_tdow.

And yes, my dad was probably chasing my mom around the bedroom trying to make me when that RX-3 was in it's prime:ugh2:.

Ari never showed, it is probably for the better though. They were simultaneously running the clash of the titans and a double points bracket race. There were over 300 cars for a one day event. The track temp was over 145 degrees and everyone was having problems hooking. They have been fighting a bump in the RH lane for some time now and it took another car this weekend. It was a 10.5 outlaw car that turtled at a little over 200 MPH. It was the wildest wreck i have ever seen. He got a little loose going through the lites and threw the laundry out trying to straighten the car out but it was too late. The car pitched sideways and flipped upside down. The crazy part is that the car is now sideways and upside down about 3 feet in the air. I guess it was the perfect angle but it actually started gaining altitude to the point where it was about 12 feet in the air. He was fine and the car was in surprisingly good shape.

After the feedback I got here, I wanted to run a clutchless and see how things go.

I ended up not having much time during during the week to work on the car and decided to use my weekend to try and catch up. sorry.

I'm glad I didn't miss much. I figured that I could make the Tulsa event in 2 weeks... We'll see.
