noob questions about drag racing
never thought id post here but this seems to be the place for these questions:
1. why is the perfect reaction time .5000 and 0.0000? 2. i can assume that some track are "slower" than others but why is this so? 3. please explain why the right lane has a time of 15.7 and the left lane is 15.5 yet the margin of victory is .0027?? (look below) left / right .7445 / .5400 reaction 2.2297 / 2.6386 60ft 6.5304 / 6.9035 330ft 10.0153 / 10.3467 1/8 et 68.99 / 71.60 1/8 mph 13.0387 / 13.2939 1000 et 15.5450 / 15.7522 1/4 et 92.18 / 92.08 1/4 mph .0027 finish margin thanks |
1-There is half a second between the flashing yellow lights in the tree so from the time that the last yellow bulb goes out until the time that the green light is lit is .500. So if you get a .500 light that means your front tires roll out of the beam exactly when the green light is lit.
2-There are a lot of variables but mostly traction and atmospheric conditions. 3-The timer doesn't start to count until the car leaves the line. So even though the car may have run faster he lost a lot of ground with a slow reaction time. |
ah damn, now i think i get it after reading what you wrote. man im a retard most of the time.
i was thinking the timers were in synch for some reason. thanks for the answers |
