Stock chassis with no front subframe?

I am putting some work to the front end of my Rx2. The rail were rusted beyond repair so I cut them out and am replacing them with 2"x 3" Rectangular tubing. I cut out some of the sheet metal up front (did NOT touch the firewall), and have not modified the strut towers in any way at all. From what I have read here and a few other places this is still considered a completely stock chassis car.

But I have seen conflicting information about removing the sub-frame. I do not want to use the stock Rx2 sub-frame. One, because it also has some rust issues. And two, the weight. I was planning on making a bracket that would be welded to my new frame rails that would mount the link that would normally mount onto the sub-frame to the steering arm. Then mount the engine with a .250" aluminum plate that would go from frame rail to frame rail. Doing these two things would make the sub-frame obsolete.

But would the car still be considered stock chassis? Need some help here. I can not move on with the car until I know this info.

You will have to check with your local event rules as they all are different. For example. On the east coast full tube chassis cars are legal in the all motor class where on the West coast they are not legal unless your a Honda racing suckass crybaby.

I'm pretty sure as long as you don't cut out the strut towers and the strut bolts into the same location you are good. But like I said you have to check with your event holder rule book as they vary.

These days very few people play by the rules. They say stock chassis class but almost all the Honda's that I run against are full tube chassis cars so I don't know how they get away with it. If I were to build my car all over again I would have probably made a 3/4 or 1/2 chassis or even a full tube chassis and screw the rules and just go in an kick some Honda *** and if I got disqualified because some Honda clown cried like a bitch I would just laugh at them and go home with a smile knowning I just beat them at their own game FAIRLY!
