Lexan install question

I'm in the proccess of installing Lexan windows on my duece. I got all the info needed and it looks pretty easy. The only thing I'm getting mixed info on is how to secure the window to the car. Do you use rivets, bolts, sheet metal screws and what size? Please post what you have used and what works the best.

Thanks

Also, do you think I will need a center support down the center of the front windshield from top to bottom to keep the lexan from bowing inward at top speed?

Use countersunk screws and countersink washers. I would recommend a center support, it's easier to do it now then to have to redo it later.

Allen, are you using bolts with nylock nuts or sheet metal screws?

Regardless of motor, I still need to loose alot of weight. I'm allowed 1850 and I weigh 2120, 13b will add more weight too. :) 13b is in the near future.:icon_tup:

Mine is all glass but you want machine screws and nuts.

You might want to use 3/16 on the windshield and 1/8 on the other windows. Center brace will keep the wind from pushing the winshield in.
I used pop rivets but to each there own. http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...7/DSC00002.jpg

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to use pop rivets because there are some areas with very tight access to use nuts.

Busted7, when mounting the lexan, did you put anything between the lexan and frame/mounting? I'm not worried about water since I'm never going to drive this car in the rain but was wondering if vibration and cracking would be an issue?

If you use lexan it wont break and no i didnt use anything in between.

Good luck.
