How to access the Video

Judge Ito,

When you click on the link it takes you to the Megaupload home page, and then splash's a bunch of advertisement stuff for a Laptop giveaway. Participate if you want to, but I just put in my e-mail address then closed all the other silly pop-up windows. Then when you get back the main page again. To the right of the Megaupload Logo it says enter the three characters that are displayed. I had to type them in twice, and both times they were upper case letters. Then you will see a percentage bar, and then you'll be prompted to download or view the file.

BEWARE this file is huge 112MB.

Awesome in car video a little long, but very cool.

Smaller Video for Viewing

Crispeed,

The video was 112MB, I hope you don't mind, I made it smaller (7.5mb) and edited most of the idling out. Link below....

That car revs high!!!

Questions about this car?????

Crispeed,

I have a lot of questions about the car, and the setup you guys are running. But, I need to give you credit were credit is do "DAMN THAT SOUNDS GOOD". Very crisp and clean no bogging or weird stuff going on.

Now to the real questions.
1. Who made the P-Port housings you guys run in this car?
2. Do you run Gas or Alcohol?
3. How high do you push the RPM?
4. How much power are you guys making with your current setup?
5. What changes or enhancements to go faster next year?
6. Which Rotors do you guys run in that motor?

Awesome car to run those numbers on a Naturally Aspirated setup.

Good Luck

rotarygod 11-09-06 12:49 PM

Damn what's the shift point in that? 10.5K, 11K?

R_PROWESS 11-09-06 12:54 PM

damn what was that 11,500 rpm easy

[QUOTE=rotaryengineering]Crispeed,

Actually the run sucked because we did not have the two step working and the wheelie bars were not on the car so he took it easy on the launch but it bogged.:)

Now to the real questions.
1. Who made the P-Port housings you guys run in this car?
Same person that does it for most of the racers here in Florida.

2. Do you run Gas or Alcohol?
We run Methanol.

3. How high do you push the RPM?
It depends on who you're racing! :) Shift point is around 10.5k rpm

4. How much power are you guys making with your current setup?
Current setup is down by 35 RWHP. Presently 310 RWHP. Should be 340 RWHP+ when we go back to the original setup.

5. What changes or enhancements to go faster next year?
Revert to original setup. Weight reduction. Lighter driveline components etc.

6. Which Rotors do you guys run in that motor?
RX-8<-------They suck. Going back to 89-91 9.7 rotors.

Awesome car to run those numbers on a Naturally Aspirated setup.

Thanks. That run was not a good one due to the bog but the speed in the 1/8th and 1/4 mile picked up by 5 to 6 mph so we're hoping for the best this weekend when we take it back out. I'll do another video this weekend.

Very very cool video! Seems that Travieso has a light flywheel compared to the PR guys that use heavy flywheels. That's why it boggs.

1) The one and only hardcore rotary porter in Sweden Mikael!

2) Dito that is methanol.

3) Skys the limit 13 000 rpm?

4) Current hp with a medium 44mm PP port is 316 that is carburated with a Weber 51mm carby yet to be tested in car.

5) Dyno test the new combination of 45 mm PP port housings Ron's mechanical alky set up.
Variable length intake manifold (like 4 rotor Le Mans engine) and a few other engine stuff. Horsepower? more than 350 hp on a Super flow dyno (that is our goal) then go for the first 10 s N/A car in Europe (Mazda RX-4-1974)

6) I have built 2 13B engines with RX-8 rotors and they rew to 9500 rpm with no issue. Cant see no problem with them unless you don't machined them.

7) What timing have you use in Traviesos engine? A good friend of mine Roger has dyno'ed a 13B PP motor close to 370 hp on gasoline with a total timing of 30 BTDC on Leading.

I look forward to see Travieso break into the 9s on N/A it's not an easy task but it can be done!

Actually it has a heavy flywheel and it never boggs. :)
The reason why it bogged was because the two step was not used and the clutch was dumped at 5k rpm .
The problems with the rx-8 rotors are not related to rpm or clearancing.

Node 11-10-06 12:01 AM

whats the weight on the car?

and what do you consider a heavy flywheel? that thing revs like a beast!

Well it's not the weight of the flywheel alone that matters. It's the entire rotating assembly. The flywheel and clutch have to be considered as a single package. You can have a flywheel that weighs 10lbs but if you add a clutch that weighs 50lbs then it's the entire assembly that matters. Also more important is where the weight is located. A flywheel/clutch combo that have the weight located more towards the outer circumference will have a greater effect on inertia than one where the weight is located towards the center.
Now if you're still hang up on flywheel weight I'll tell you that the one we're using on the car weighs over 25lbs! :)

Anybody want to sponsor a set of these! :)

why r rx8 rotors so bad from what people say and i heard someone is trying to lighten them up more to about 6 pds

rotaryengineering 11-13-06 05:52 PM

What is the problem with using RX-8 Rotor?

Crispeed,

What is the deal with using RX-8 Rotors in this type of application?
Can you share some of your knowledge, and experiences with the Renesis rotors?

Cost is an issue now because the parts are getting more expensive every year.
I was planning on buying a set of Renesis rotors at the beginning of this year, recently checked the prices a couple of weeks ago, and they are $450.00 each, they doubled in price within 9 months.

I guess it also depends on if your running gas or alcohol.

Thanks
Albert

Hey Crispeed,
On the video the gauge all the way to the right, is that oil pressure? Because if it is it sure looks like it's approaching 160psi. What kind of mods do you do to obtain that type of oil pressure? If you don't mind revealing, if not no worries I would understand. Thank you in advance.

Gorilla RE 11-14-06 01:49 PM

damn that is amazing how it stays up in the revs like that! 8k-10.5K back and fourth! nice run
nice car and a beautiful sounding engine!
