Help required with launching / traction Fd3s
 

Hi guys iam From New Zealand, I own a FD3S

MODS:

Engine : 13B Single turbo conversion : T70 Master power turbo / Mild steel manifold, HKS bov , I /c / Custom exhaust / 38mm wastegate / boost tap / turbo smart fuel regulator / large fuel pump / hks filter / LTS10 Ecu just had the car tuned at 10 psi at 247 KW at the wheels

Suspension and wheels:

bilstein height adjustable suspension / Oz racing 17 " wheels with RE 01 R TIRes with 255 / 40 / on the rear and 225 on the front


Now that i have all the car details up i am having MAJOR issues getting a good time at the drags best time so far is a 14.3 Sec with a 6 foot of 2.3 sec, i was told my suspension on the rear is way to stiff so i pulled them out as they don't have damper only height and realize the springs there were a 12kg rating which is STIFF as hell you can't push the rear down, i was also told that the tyres i currently have are not the best for drag racing ( at the day i had drooped them to 12 psi on the rear to try get traction and not get the car to swerve all over the place )

Ill post up a video of one of my runs and if some one can give me some advice on whats happening because i am loosing my mind! i already pulled off the rear suspension and changing the coils to a 7 kg rating ones to see if that makes a difference !!!

What was your trap speed?

I can see the 60' time going down a couple more tenths while still on street tires (not drag radials). Maybe 2.0 or 1.9.

You need drag tires like ET streets

yeah...drag radials @ 13 PSI.
Heat them up good first in the burnout box.

Jason, I agree with Tom and RXTASY that street slicks will lower your 60' time, but I dont think spending the money on street slicks is going to fix your driving. You can drop that 60' with your same street tires to at least a 2.0. That will put you in the high 13's...maybe 13.7ish. Maybe slipping the clutch instead of dumping it will work better for you.

Thanks for the info guys, so the tyres now are not great for drag on the strip? also i was told the rear suspension is way too stif at 12kg on the rear i am going to replace them with a 7 kg spring would that help?

Any high performance street tire is not gonna work nearly as good as some slicks, most popular option is the MT ET Streets, 26x10.5x16 and put them on the stock rims. If you want to be serious about drag racing then don't waste time and get these tires, they will help more than suspension. I ran lowering springs for years and still had decent starts and times with the ET streets. Switch back to stock springs if you want a better setup for the drag strip.
