FD spare rim tires rated for speed?
Ordered a set of spare wheels because I needed the odd offset to clear by large calipers. Having trouble finding a “skinny” tire that will fit a 16x4” rim that’s rated for speeds over 50.

They don't need tubes and the fastest I've gone is 132. They were cheap and I have no complaints at all.

I will be in the 160+ range in the 1/4 mile. Not sure if a 26" wheel will fit on my FB up front but I'll give it a try.
Thanks! Here is a link to the tire if anyone is interested. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cok-63650/overview/ Here is the car with the old SA front bakes. Just went to the FC 4-pot calipers. 24" tire in the pic Attachment 629455 |

Thanks for the suggestion thou! |
my friend ran for years and never had a problem, not disagreeing with you just real world experience. maybe he was really lucky nothing happen, his car used to run like 140+ for many years but i recall one time that he went to a NHRA race and they had him change them because of rules. hope this helps but if you say that they are not made to seat properly i wouldn't suggest to use it. wouldn't want anybody to get hurt.

I looked into this because i had seen it as well. Its not saf thou. Motorcycle beads are not designed for automotive wheels. They do not seat properly. Not that it isnt done...but its a bad idea IMO. Not something id risk at 160+ mph.

I’ve seen a few do it as well. The beads are nowhere near similar though. Wouldn’t want to take the chance personally.

Found some 24" tires that will fit the FC/FD 16" spare wheels. Even have a “v” speed rating (149). If anyone is interested.
