one major problem most people over look is how some of these pumps have to be installed. That pump is gravity feed, that means its not design to "suck" fuel like the stock pump. Make sure your pump is mounted lower than your fuel tank, that way it gets a constant supply of fuel to keep cool & to maintain proper fuel flow. If not, then you could be wearing down your pump prematurely which may be why you have to hit your pump for it to work.
I used that pump for 3 years in my 1st gen with no problem.. Now its being used in another turbo 1st gen with no problems. Good mounting location, good ground, good filters & your're good to go!! :icon_tup: If my friend is reading this post... Don't forget the return address of the pump I loaned you a few years ago you bastard  |
Yeah power and ground are solid, i have it mounted level with the bottom of my tank like the owners manual said because it a gravity pump, and my aeromotive filters are superb.
I guess my pump is taking a dump on me, by any chance do you guys think weather could be the problem i have notice it only does this when i leave my car outside overnight. |
i have gone thru many problems with aeromotive the eliminator pump a lil bigger then the a1000... even sent it back to the company to fix few times.. and do you know how i fixed the problem? I used a different pump..

What micron filter are you running on the inlet and outlet?
|
inlet 100 icron outlet 10 micron
would aeromotive really fix these pumps |
Some people seem to have good luck with these pumps but many don't. I've heard issues with these pumps can include the problems you are having also if the feed lines aren't big enough (10an) it can choke the pump. If you continue having problems you should try the 044. If you are around kilo's shop when he's dynoing my car this week you should see (hopefully) the 044 support 500hp... of course that's with the help of a boost a pump.

oh we like the a1000 and their production line , there s no doubt about its performance. I am not too fond of the 044 but everyone has their own opinions . We have success with aeromotive and we will continue with them.
As far as my feed line -10 an all the way , its just my pump is taking a dump on me i guess. I do daily drive my car out here so too much usage can also wear it out. I will be there friday to help out with some things but i will see what it has....WHO KNOW I MIGHT DRIVE IT BEFORE YOU DO! lol jk |
If the motor on the pump uses brushes there probley the cause, and when you tap it they make connection!

aeromotive pumps
I have tried about 4 of these pumps and once they sit too long the magnet unsticks inside the pump and the two half of magnets grab the armature and the pump does not work ,cant even turn,we opened one and stuck back the magnets but after a while same thing happened ,remember these pumps have gas flowing inside all the electrical componets,my advice to you is these pumps are worthless.i am using a weldon for the last 5 years and never had any probs.
|
Yup the only thing i can think of is the brushes sticking, or worn out springs . Either one could be the problem i wil call aeromtive to see what can they do about this.
As far as it getting stuck (3 times now) in the matter of 2 months on daily driving i can only imagine that could be the problem. |
I had an A1000 stop working during a cruise a year ago. I think it may have gotten too hot. After it sat for 10 minutes or so, it fired up and i drove it home. I threw it away and ordered another one. I didn't like the thought of it just dying on me like that.
