8.8 solid rear

ok, so i been trying to find a used 8.8 solid rear and i just about given u. so im going to buy it directly from grannysspeedshop.com, but i dont want there whole kit. i pretty much want everything but the torque bar and watts link set up.

this will be a drag only car with slight street usage. but i dont want to cut the body at all, im keeping it stock chassis. now im a welder by trade, so i can build something strong from metal. but i have never designed a solid rear set-up. could i just weld on a place to use a panhard bar from the P.Side of the axle to the D.Side of the body to keep it strait, then have something to hold up the front of the diff? a simple mount from body to the nose. i dont see anything wrong with this...

or does someone have a better idea? pictures help!!!

I would think just buying their entire kit would be easier. Their kit is even designed to use the stock strut set up and brakes. Im contemplating on buying it next year with my income tax..

theres is not designed for drag only. the torque arm is built for auto cross use also. wich is cool, but of no use to me on this car. a 4 link set-up would be real nice. but theres not a lot of room to do this without cutting the floor up.

Actually, it has been done. A friend from Vegas has a FC with 8.8 (I think it is) but he is running a piston motor and a supercharger. Search for KatoRX7 on this board. IIRC, he has posted some pix of his set-up.

i know its been done. but i searched your friends name. found it. he has the grannys set-up also. i still cannot find some good pics of a solid rear in an FC thats not the grannys.

ehhh....im more of a do-it-your selfer. paying people sucks.

it feels better, to me anyways, to look at your car and know you actually built it yourself. with a little bit of research anyone could build just about everything on a car.

Fully loaded 8.8's can be had for $50 on craigslist or your local classifieds.
