3rd gen 2nd gear burn outs

Any of you guys use 2nd gear? I have been doing 1st and came across other saying they have used 2nd. As long as tires are wet is it OK or does it shock load the hell out of the system?
Thanks

What tires and size are you using? How much power are you making? As long as you have enough power to turn the size of tires you have, you will have no problem sith a 2nd gear burnout.;)

Thanks for the response.
Well I havent dyno'd yet but 1st , 2nd are usless on the street and track .
I will say in the low to low mid 400 WHP?? when around 20 Psi
Let me say that with no 1st or much of second , into third short shift @14-15 Psi into 4th at 6400 RPM and get 8-10psi running mid rpms through the lights and I am hitting 116.5 mph( low profile 3 year old summitomo streets)
I am installing the 3 bar since my Sunoco came in this morning. So now I am going to use drag radials so I guess it comes down to if any of you guys do second with DR's. I know I need a line lock. Having the back jump out when the front gets set isnt cool ,when clutch dumping and brake . (no ABS) When doing a 2nd gear burn do you dump it harder are try too be smoother?

I let it rip in 2nd just like first, Usually if the water box is set up right you get enough water on them to get them spinning with ease, its also alot easier to maintain your rpms in 2nd, in first its usually an up/down thing. In 2nd you can lock your revs @ 6k wait till it starts to drop (tires warming up) then get out of it and stage like normal.

I learned the hard way by doing a 3rd gear burnout without a water box!

You better do your burnouts in 4th. When you think you can handle it and you're making some real power then you can graduate to 5th gear which is the one to use on your tranny anyway which is 1:1.
Bring that baby up to 7 or 8K rpm and let that clutch fly for the burnout.
I don't want to hear about any damm lame ass 2nd and 3rd gear burnouts with your setup. :rlaugh:
I know you pretty much have the launch setup under control.
Next is to see if you can handle the ride all the way to the end! :rlaugh:

You read right but you misunderstood the facts. The tranny in Allen's RX-3 is not a factory Mazda one but a Dougnash where 5th gear is 1:1.
Anymore questions? :rlaugh:

I could do 2nd gear burnouts with 8 inch slicks, and my car only dynoed 155rwhp on the motor.
