10 Sec street FB, the quest for 9's

Looking to make the jump to 9's this year.

Unfortunately I will be adding some weight to the car, bigger engine, bigger transmission, roll cage etc. On the positive side that means another 100hp +/- and durability @ same boost.

Car already has ford 9" with 4.33's and hitting 8,800 rpm top of 4th. Gearing is same for new trans. Ford 9" uses factory mazda links and watts link with poly bushings.

The new engine will have a slightly lower red line, so the thought is going from a 24.5x9" slick to either a taller radial or slick and a slipper valve for the clutch. I would like to see 1.35 60's. Would make 9's a lot easier.

However, the car isn't behaving correctly with the suspension. The 175lb 1" springs and tokico illuminas in the rear, I can work with that and seem to work best on a setting of "4" (Hard).

The Koni reds and 175-350/lb progressive springs in the front are not good at all. The ride is bouncy and you have to take them out to adjust.

What spring rates / front struts do you folks run? Any V8 guys around?
