Wideband/knock logging tool sale.

Damn, that's pretty slick. I've heard of a lot of the Japanese tuners using a knock sensor with headphones while tuning - you can hear the tiniest pings much better, and know when to back off much earlier.
That's a pretty decent price too. Wish they had a better pic of the unit. Dale |

will it interface with the Datalogit ok? I could care less about a gameboy
|
I'd like to see a pic of the unit/display that's not taken apart, like the pic on the webpage :). How big is the unit itself?
Since I'm guessing you have one - what do you think of the unit? Have you tried the knock sensor? Dale |
Just use a stethoscope! Hmm, well maybe not. Yes more pictures of the unit and dimensions would be nice. How much work involved to get it to work with a datalogit?

OK, after a little more digging in TurboXS's web site, I found out some more.
The unit does quite a bit. Not only wideband and knock readings, but can also monitor 2 12v inputs and 2 pulse inputs. For example, you can tap into a MAP sensor and log it, RPM, injector pulsewidth, etc. That's mighty handy! Supposedly you can or will be able in the future to hook a Gameboy Advance to it to read data, log, etc. That's just slick. The tuner box is just a serial device - you run a terminal emulator to read it, so ANYTHING that's a terminal emulator will work, even one on a Palm PDA or something. Or you can drag an old dumb terminal in the car :). Here's a copy of the manual for the unit - http://www.turboxs.com/_images/Tuner...Manual_1v1.pdf Attached is a pic of the unit with a Gameboy Advance sitting on top. Decent looking unit. This is one slick device! Dale |
it can output a 0-5v signal for use with engine management (datalogit)
the unit is 4.5" X 6 1/4" and 1 1/4" deep |
I have yet to try the knock sensor on my car since its not running atm... but it works great on the wrx's, The wideband is awesome though. We bought a Motech for testing and ours has a higher resolution than it ;)
|
I wonder how much more accurate the Bosch Knock sensor is compared to the OEM Mazda knock Sensor, if any.
|
I know the Bosch sensor is what J&S use for their Safeguard.
The TXS tuner box also lets you tune in the knock sensor - you can free-rev the engine, and dial out any noise so it only hears knock. Being able to actually listen to knock with headphones is a REAL big advantage, too. I think a knock sensor is pretty much a knock sensor, but the black box that interprets what the mic outputs is the key. Dale |
Nice, not sure how useful the gameboy feature since the screen is so small and the resolution is low. Nice feature none the less. I smell group buy! :D

new information about the DTEC (gameboy interface) is up on the web now.

im a little confused, this unit comes with a wideband o2 sensor for around $600?
|
it comes with a bosche wideband, and a knock sensor for 549 shipped.

i use one of these units on out dyno dynamics dyno's here in Australia, they work a treat, very accurate, very fast, the Knock sensor works a treat, i use it on just about every car that i tune,
we use the 0-5v output to send the afr signals straight to the dyno and all logging is done on there, there was a problem with the output being to slow but turbo xs fixed this straight away for us. i highly reccomend this unit to anyone! Dale |
Here's another company making a low cost ($40) interface for the gameboy:
www.educatingmario.com At the moment, it doesn't data log, but the designer is working on it. I'm using it as a low cost storage scope: http://www.jandssafeguard.com/educatingmario.html |

Dale So if one was to buy a Microtech ecu for a 20b(Ltx-12s), this little unit could be used in place of the A/F set-up Microtech provides? |
