What intake manifold is bolted to my Weber 48 IDA?

I picked up a 12A pulled from an SCCA '79 FB last week. It came with an MSD Blaster ignition setup, full road-race style exhaust (not RB, but not sure what), a wide-band setup, and a Weber 48 IDA setup. Also came with the stock intake manifold w/Nikki carb. Oh, and a rebuilt Miata 5-speed tranny. :)

I pulled the Weber off to have a look at the intake ports to see if the engine was ported or not. I figured it was probably at least street ported since it came with the Weber 48 IDA and the wideband, but I couldn't really tell by feeling around in the intake ports. But I digress.

I examined the Weber and intake assembly and don't recognize the intake. It seems like a custom job. Here are a few pics:

There are no markings on it that I can see. The ports appear to have been polished at a minimum...perhaps even opened up. As you can see, there are lots of welds around the base of the runners. Has anyone seen this before?

Can't tell the brand, might be an Aussie one. All the welds you see are very common. To get the best flow and power band where you want it you need to cut them open. Yours looks like it might have been shortened under the carb flange which would raise the power band a little.

and also welded up so as to be able to port tall runners for the middle plate

Thanks folks...I figured this thing was opened up and ported. Makes sense now. I guess the make doesn't much matter as the thing has been so extensively modified. I'm assuming my motor has been street ported (definitely not bridge as I can't feel an eyebrow in the intake ports). Looking forward to getting this setup in the car.

Yeah, it looks like an off the shelf IDA manifold that someone wrecked by welding a bunch of material to and then opening up the primary runners.

Where do you buy the spacer between carb and mani?

little tip.. the SU ones fit if you open out the bolt holes

I believe it is an Aussie style IDA intake. it seems that top flange was reversed (cut and re-welded) to make the carb bottom pull.

bottom pull?

^ "make the carb bottom pull"? I'm feeling dense, but I'm not sure I understand.

/\ direction for the linkage.. some manifolds place the bowl over the engine.. US ones the other way around with bowl over the extractors

Ah, thanks...that makes sense now.
